thepasty
A proper pasty made by a Cornish farmers wife takes some beating too I spent two years making pasties for a lady who made the best pasties known to man, people would come from far and wide to a miles out of the way little kitchen to buy them. I'm the only person she ever tought her secrets too... I make a mean pasty
islandgun
when i first left home as a lad i worked and lived on a farm in Penhallow and the pasty became a staple for me, meat and veg in a pastry crust whats not to like,
grrclark
Right, so not oily fish? Do you do tuna and do you prefer freshwater? Don't like tuna but try every so often in the hope that tastebuds may have changed. I would say that oily fish are definitely fishier, but it's not unique to them. Have tried a few freshwater fish, but mostly i have not enjoyed them. I had a sweetwater catfish that was nice, but again very mild. I think it is a bit like folk who don't like coriander, it is just something that jars with my sense of taste. I am an adventurous eater and will try lots of things, but seafood in the main evades me sadly. IG please do PM the recipe, I am happy to give it a go when i first left home as a lad i worked and lived on a farm in Penhallow and the pasty became a staple for me, meat and veg in a pastry crust whats not to like, A good pasty is a fabulous thing

OJW
Seafood tapas Barcelona - we were on a Med cruise and had a day in port. Had a half hour to kill, spotted bar near sea and ordered a quite expensive set menu which was the most memorable meal we have ever enjoyed. On our bucket list to revisit - just hoping bar still there. I'm going to Barcelona soon, do you remember the name of the bar? I'd love to visit if it's still there. Thelongwayup
No particular order... Fresh caught Mackeral BBQ'd withing 20 mins of landing it in whitby. Absolutely gorgeous! Travelling through Sweden on our way home after 2 weeks with no decent meat and stopped at a hotel. Had reindeer burgers with chips...WOW! I don't think my mate or me spoke other than to make hmmmm...noises. Working at a carluccios on a new store due to open in harrogate. Staff were doing chef training and the big man himself Antonio Carluccio walks in. Watches staff cooking and stepped in to show them a better way to do said task. Handed out the food to all the contractors still on site to test. Pesto rice balls with basil and a freshly made pasta. Man that was nice. Every now and then...Beans on toast with cheese melted on top and a cracking cup of tea. Simple but still damned good!

loriusgarrulus
For pudding slices of jam roll layered with slices of 2 or 3 bananas and hot custard poured over. Good hot straight away or cold later. Smoked haddock cooked in milk and butter with black pepper. Serve with mashed potatoe and tinned marrowfat peas. Make a hollow in the mash and pour in the buttery milk the haddock has been cooked in. Edited April 24, 2015 by loriusgarrulus

Lloyd90
memorable ones for me First Fallow (aand deer) I ever shot. Took the fillet out of the inside ribcage , flash fried for 1 min each side with some onions and straight into a crusty baguette with some relish! Seafood platter in Mauritius, with the biggest prawns I've ever seen, and a lobster. Chicken and ribs with sides cooked over the heat of an active volcano in Lanzarote. The food wasn't anything to rave about but the experience was pretty cool

big bad lindz
Do what we did/do rent a boat for a week form )Oban (usually an old converted fishing vessel) travel the islands , live like a king and get to places you would not otherwise see, wonderful experience, its amazing where you can get to in a week.did that for 20 plus years. KW Nice thought although I dont think my dogs would like it as I wont put them into kennels. I struggle to keep them out the water at the best of times cant think what it would be like with them on a small boat.

rimfire4969
Anything that comes from our own animals. One of my favorites for the summer is a boned leg of lamb butterflied then pierced with garlic and rosemary plenty of salt and pepper and cooked over an open fire for a hour or two. The thinner bits are crispy and well done and the thicker bits are still rare so you cover all options. Great for feeding a group and better than a burger on a bbq. Anyone down this way should head for somewhere like St Agnes Beacon or Droskyn Point in Perranporth anywhere on the north coast and watch the sunset over the sea armed with some very fresh picked crab, a loaf of Baker Toms granary crusty bread, a lemon and a bottle of good cold Sauvignon Blanc. Simple and easy.
