Harnser
just bought a browning T bolt .22 rim fire off a member on here . The rifle shoots very well and is very accurate . I was zeroing it yesterday with Remington sub sonics and I noticed that every now and again ,probably half a dozen rounds out of 100 were very noisy and did not sound like sub sonic rounds but more like hi velocity . The mod was not silencing the rounds at all . I also shot about 50 rounds of eley sub sonic and they were all very quiet . Has any body else experienced this . Full Pelt
Yes, Remington subs renowned for crackers, I no longer use them. Of half a dozen brands tried last year indoors CCI Segmented were easily and noticeably the loudest, and RWS the quietest. It wouldn't be noticeable in the field unless you were a rabbit. belly47
I use cci subs in my cz452 and last week I had a couple that were on the noisy side, to make it worse I missed the rabbit over the top, which I guess would be to be expected if it had gone supersonic. the only time I have had it and put about 500 rounds through it so far
39TDS
Winchester subs do it from time to time.
Underdog
Yes sir, remmie ammo does that.
welshwarrior
Remi subs do that I've one rifle here that they are not sub sonic at all, every one cracks!
wymberley
Winchester subs do it from time to time. Don't doubt you for one minute, but am surprised. While trying to find which suited my rifle best, didn't just do the groups but also put them through the chrono'. The Winchester was amongst the slowest and well short of the advertised 1065 ft/sec. The most consistent in terms of SD was the SK, the SD being negligible and with an MV of 1034 (in my 14" barrel it shot 1043) the problem won't arise. Worth a punt to see if they suit your rifle. 1066
The shooting show has just posted a video of a test of 6 different types of subsonic ammo using a machine rest at 50 yards. The Remmies were poor performers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFPywYD-s7I

MrDaveO84
Good watch as I only use eley subs in my finnfire and they're stupidly accurate so good to see that was backed up. I was amazed that the Remingtons didn't expand though
la bala
I use Winchester in my CZ because it likes them, get the odd popper and cracker.
bang bang birdy
Confirmed why my cz loves eley
1066
This is a short test of a new batch of Eley sub HP's I shot last weekend with my Sako Finnfire. Range is 68 yards, shot from off the ground with a bipod, still air. 30 consecutive shots, 5 shot group average .9moa
bluesj
I've not had any crack off with winchesters in the humdreds i've used, possibly had one with cci in 2 or 3 hundred but i was around some building so cant be sure. Had 3 in 25 remmington, still got the rest of the box if someone wants them cheap
thepasty
I tried remmie subs once.... never again.
MAB1954
Fiocchi subs for me at the moment, cheaper than RWS but same result.
Whitebridges
Personally i've tried Remington subs and don't rate them at all. Phillip sells the SK Lapua subsonics Mick, they are usually darn good in most guns. These boys http://www.angliatackleandgun.co.uk/ are quite close to you and they sell RWS subs which are also very consistent. Carman06
Has anyone used the cheap stuff from Henry Krank at all. Got any opinions if they are comparable to CCI standard or blazer.?

Henry Kranks have stopped it as Eley don't have surplus ammo anymore!!!!

Dekers
I got a 100 box of these 3-4 years back just because they were so cheap. Cheap was right, they were all over the place and 2-3 out of the box refused to go bang at all. I struggle to see how they could actually be made so badly. Whitebridges
Nige ,I bought some RWS from there just to try out and they were very good .very quiet and accurate . Mick That's good Mick. They also do an RWS HP HV round. Best HV round i've found. I don't use that many but occasionally they come in handy.
thepasty
I'm on RWS now, used to be winnys but binned them after having a fair few boxes that were like remmys! RWS are bang on.
Full Pelt
RWS have to be one of the better choices, if your rifle likes them. A genuinely quiet sub., tiny, tiny groups, the only downside - they are filthy to handle, very greasy. Not to complain, I've had 135 rabbits on the last few outings ... bang on !
