Gordon R
Utter ********. Gun licences are there purely to keep guns out of the hands of those who might pose a danger to the general public. They were not for the purposes of threatening and coercing members of the public or as a means of punishment by revocation. Why not take their driving licences too or their children. You said it - utter and complete rubbish. It isn't a matter of our opinions, it is the law. If you don't like it - enter politics and change it. sitsinhedges
I'm a law abiding chap really Chief Constable, I only get convicted and break the law when I don't agree with them ! So everyone who has a speeding ticket has lost their gun licence because they broke the law? Gun licences are to ensure public safety, not as a further punishment. It's only sanctimonious tits on here who would have them all revoked. The system clearly needs looking at and making more acceptable to the general public to stop the reluctance there clearly is, and that is the problem. Can't be bothered with this thread anymore. I'm out pigeon spotting.
guest1957
Failing to attend shows utter contempt for the law. No sympathy for anyone who pays the price as a result. BTW it is a fine, not a charge for not attending. Anyone who sees it as a straight choice between one or the other is a little simple. sitsinhedges
That is the crux, which some seem unable to grasp. Well considering the maximum fine for not attending is £1000 yet the maximum fine for dropping litter is £2500 along with the derisory sum they think the job is worth I think we do grasp the severity. 40 per cent as important as dropping litter. Should I hand my gun licences in straight away?
Gordon R
The penalty may well need upgrading - just like the allowances for attending. I honestly trust that you just make your points for a bit of fun. The alternative being that you are someone with little regard for the process of law. Perhaps you should hand them in. Yes, Sitsinhedges wants to mildly inconvenience a court official. Time to throw a rope over a lamp post comrade

daveboy
Are you exempt from jury service if you have a speeding conviction? If you told the court you don't trust the police to tell the truth because they lied about you speeding, there is a good chance you would be sent home. clanchief
Its because you are a subject of the Crown they can force this. Only way out is if you are a, something else with a Crown on it, I was excused as I was an HMP Prison Officer(15 years I done), or anything with civil duties to carry out. Oh and anyone appearing from custody is guilty, just so as you know.

spanj
Why can't people just do what's expected of them without moaning about it? My wife's done it twice. I've never been called, but if I do, I'll go. It's one of those things. I believe you have to be of good character
