NHS Doctors appointment times

I guess some practices are worse than others. I phoned about 8:30 am yesterday for an appointment for my son appointment time 10:20 am so can't complain.

Bigger picture:

In my brothers village they have just started a building development of 140 new homes a combination of 2, 3 and 4 bed, no extra provisions for the doctors or the primary school which is already over subscribed. Where are these people going to go to the doctors and where are their kids going to go to school!

Ditto here in Ashby ,shiny new Doctors building but same number of doc,s and nurse,s 600 houses in build at the moment and another 450 planned on the old Arla dairy site.No extra school buliding ,no extra shops /pubs restaurants or infrastructure of any kind :hmm: .Planned by morons and built in a day outa breeze block and facing bricks.Took four weeks to get a result appointment for my diabetes which they cancelled as the G,P,s went on strike in sympathy for the junior docs :sad1:

You'll know where I mean on the ashby road . Tamworth has even had the minor injuries reduced 8-10 now. It's stupid.

At our doctors if you phone up first thing in the morning they usually have appointments available for the same day. We also have a load on nurses available that are well trained meaning most of the time you can just see one of them, get your prescription and go.

Works very well.

My dr has you ring in and then a dr calls you back;decides on the phone if you need to come in and invariably you're seen within a couple of hours. No one ever in the waiting room.

I presume it cuts doen on all the coughs and colds that can't be treated wasting time.

My last dr in london was a nightmare and you'd be lucky to be seen within 3 weeks. On occasion I went to a and e and saw the Duty gp at 3 am normally to be told I shoudnt have waited and should have seen my gp earlier in the day. Oh the irony.

Speak to the practice manager-usually find them very helpful.

This ^^^^

Speak to the manager and explain the letter, not worth trying to get past the iron curtain of the receptionist (come neurologist, oncologist, virologist, gynaecologist, paediatrician etc etc)
