Walker570
See if you can find a good condition Rem 870 Wingmaster. I have one which has stacked a lot of pigeons. crows and ducks over the last thirty years. . I have always referred to it as the AK47 of pumpers. Thousands of rounds and only one extractor claw replaced. Having said that I have a Mossberg 410 moderated pumper which itself has cost me a lot in cartridges and killed a load of birds and squirrels. Never failed me. Would love a non moderated barrel for it.
motty
Why not use the 20 for ducks/geese.

TONY R
Had a few pumps over the years 10s 12s 20s , My own personal favourate was a Winchester ranger 120 , it had winchoke barrel 3 inch and a fast slick action. I think the SXP is bassed on this family of pumps, But only what ive heard never seen an SXP in the flesh, If they are anything like my old ranger you can not go wrong. I must add the supernova too, Bit numb in feel in my opinion , but well made and tough.
Duckandswing
I have an sxp, can't fault it.
kennett
Got the sxp 3 1/2" for the Marsh, pigeons and generally not caring about too much. Never let's me down even when I could hardly move the slide because I had got so much dust in it (dried Marsh mud on the back of my coat) quick dip in the sea and of we went! I'm not going to say it's a Purdey but for what I want it for its fine. And cheap!
Guest cookoff013
got a supernova, but if money is an issue the sxp is fantastic value.
TONY R
Just looked sportsman are listing the SXP at the moment at 340 odd and the revo pump at 250. thats a good saving. Butfor me i just can not see past the Escort semi auto extreme at 295 its got spares back up. The SXP is strong money at 350, its over a third the way to a brand new SX3 and i know which one of those two i would have. inderraj
Mossberg 535ATS. It is a rugged, ultra-versatile all-season shotgun. Dual extractors, twin action bars, positive steel-to-steel lock-up, and an anti-jam elevator for reliable and smooth operation. it is chambered for 2, 3/4", 3", and even 3 1/2" magnum loads. I've used it in every weather, from rain, snow sleet right the way down to on the coast near Pembrokeshire. Comes steel proofed as standard, is very light, easy to use, and feels great in your hands! Scully
My favourite pump is either the Model 12 or 1300XTR ( with the Model 12 edging it ) but I currently have a S&W Model 3000. This is the shotgun that lost out to the 870, but not because it is an inferior shotgun; quite the opposite. It is deemed by some to be the better shotgun but cost more to make, and therefore buy, and sales suffered as a result. I've also owned an 870 and it is a fabulous gun, but not quite as slick as the S&W in my opinion. I'd be happy with either. I'm a big fan of pumps. saddler
Win 1897 (1898) Win 12 (1916) Ithaca 37 (1959) Rem 870 Wingmaster Rem 870 Express 20-ga Rem 870 Wingmaster 20-ga Yip - pumps have a lot going for them! Just recently swapped my S.1 870 Express 12-ga so looking for a replacement...was even tempted to open up one of the 870 20-ga's to S1 for use primarily with solid slug. Still mulling it over... One day hope to add a 10-ga Browning BPS to the above too
