matone
Thinking to myself that the Cities and Towns of the UK that voted to stay in the EU were coincidentally the ones with the highest percentage of immigrants I had a look at the data for immigration in the USA and guess what ? almost identical. So worldwide are the people that developed the civilised world as we now know it getting a little fed up with the whinging lefties and less developed wanting some of our cake. Oh what is that I hear but we only want a better life and some of your wealth, well it is becoming quite possible that they might just have to go home and earn their own. A concise and accurate summary of our situation . Well said!
achosenman
He understands trade with Russia and China rather than imperial dominance and he also understands the proxy fighting over oil in the middle east so, I doubt WW3 can be averted now but we've got a slim chance. With Clinton we'd have no chance. There's loads of good interviews with Trump on the tube. and this http://news.sky.com/story/inequality-globalisation-and-why-donald-trump-won-10650848 Ed Conway has gone up in my estimation. However I doubt that even with this metaphorical atomic shot across the bows, that our own myopic lot in Westminster will get the message. Rewulf
Do you know who bankrolled Trumps election campaign? If you did you would be more uneasy about the future than before From what I can see ,he did indeed self fund to the tune of around 25% ,around another 40 % came from small donations (Republican associations and private donors) with the rest made up of businesses , US or otherwise. Clinton on the other hand, put no money in from their own 200 million dollar fortune, and is almost entirely made up of business donations, mostly from outside the US. Interesting that ,when the Clintons left the Whitehouse ,they were alledgedly penniless, but then came the Clinton Foundation..and wealth. Dougy
I really couldn't take my eyes off the TV last night, edge of seat stuff. You just wouldn't believe how exiting it was to watch. So exiting in fact I wet myself last night so much I needed to hang my cloths in front of the fire to dry. Did I stop in to watch the show, of course not, not much different from watching CCBBs or whatever it is. I was out shooting getting soaked, far more fun. panoma1
Those that supported and voted remain did so out of either fear or self interest, the ordinary people had nothing to gain and more to lose by staying in the EU......the ordinary people's voice has been heard! Those who supported/voted for Clinton did so out of fear and self interest, the ordinary American had nothing to gain and more to lose by voting an establishment figure into power yet again, the ordinary Americans voice has been heard! This has been a silent revolution, the political elite and those people who seek political power had better take note, no longer can they feather their own nests at the expense of the people, your game is up.........remember.....you are elected to serve the interests of the people who elected you not the other way around! No one knows what Trumps presidency will bring as no one knows what Brexit will bring......what we all now know is that whatever the cost, the people of both the UK and the US wanted change!...............Interesting times ahead eh? Scully
Am loving this.....many of my 'friends' on social media are predicting doom and gloom, as they did following the brexit vote with one claiming it is 'the decent (sic) into madness'. Great stuff! 😀 Edited November 9, 2016 by Scully

Great stuff! Me too. Funny thing is ,a few of them who voted for Brexit are doing the doom talk too (Mostly Remainians hate Trump, for some reason ) When I ask what the problem is ,they say something like 'Well hes going to start WW3' How do you know that ? I ask. 'Someone said it on the telly'

Flashman
Truly Hobson's Choice - the ultimate race to the bottom. It is staggering that the Presidency could come down to two such unlikeable characters. What next, Piers Morgan or Joey Essex for PM..? Adge Cutler
Maybe we will lose a load of Polish brickies if they think that their is a chance the wall will be build in Mexico now I sincerely hope not we couldn't rely on lazy English ones to get out of the pub and bookies to do the work, they all want twice the going rate for half the work.....and that's a fact

I agree...he lured the uneducated masses and the rednecks with promises of Jam tomorrow...and they swallowed it. Remains to be seen if he can deliver on his promises or if its still the same old guff that's spewed out in the run up to elections the world over. Will be very interesting to see now, how many of Congress do actually share the same political motives and what he actually does manage to get passed. I don't think the Mexican wall, A nuke dropped on Europe or the Suspension of Putin's Ann Summers account is going to happen any time soon though. Wouldn't be surprised if the FBI were already in talks with Thomas Beckett ...

Sian
I would be really interested to see the demographic of his voters. I think they were at both ends of the food chain and had very different reasons for voting for him. It appears some must have been extremely secretive about their vote, bit like feeling dirty about what you are doing . If he manages to deliver on what he has promised in his speech I will eat my hat. Neither candidate was worthy of holding that office but let them get on with it same as we need to get on with it. Gordon R
I agree...he lured the uneducated masses and the rednecks with promises of Jam tomorrow...and they swallowed it. Adge - a poor generalisation. You can do better than this. Despite your protestations about Brexit, these are similar to comments about Brexiteers. Just exactly who said Trump supporters were "Rednecks"? A word which is bandied about by people, to cover up lack of a cogent argument. I have little time for Trump, but what was he up against? Someone who is alleged to be a criminal. Someone with a plastic smile implanted on her face. Someone who could not spell sincerity. He faced the same arrogance of people who just expected the electorate to vote for "Remain" or Trump, without sound reason. The British "Fear campaign" failed here and in the USA. About time democracy was recognised and those who didn't get their own way to look at themselves and ask why.
