Guest
What's a Pity? The point is, whilst all guns are very dangerous, legislating their use hits the wrong people. Criminals ignore the laws, legitimate shooters get trampled on and nobody is safer. All that's achieved is politicians can say theyve acted and air headed morons who don't know anything about guns or the real world eronioisly feel some good has been done. Any attempt to make the laws even tighter need to be challenged, shooters of every stripe need to stick together. Or they'll be after your discipline next and nobody will care. Doesn't really matter what they were designed for, the humble .22rf and 12 bore ejector shotgun has proved to be more than adequate when it comes to mass killings in the not too distant past, and as there is nothing in place to prevent it happening again, no doubt will prove to be so in the future. Banning them is ok in many peoples books. Be care full what you wish for.

Banning them is ok in many peoples books. Be care full what you wish for. any firearm can be used for mass killing even down to a 22lr bolt action rifle what i have notice with certain individuals in the shooting community is that if they do not use a certain type a firearm say a semi auto 22lr then they do not care if they get band if they band 22lr semi auto rifles bet they go for semi auto shotguns next mmmm semi auto shot gun with slugs got a decent effective range with more power than a 22lr we as a whole regardless off what we shoot weather full bore rifle 22lr semi auto or shotgun should stick together we all have some think in conman here we enjoy shooting here if the police do there job correctly which i am sure they do then the people who should not own firearms legally wont get them the government police should stop going after certain firearm and pay more attention on who get issued a fac however terrorist will still get firearms weather they are band or not if they cant get a rifle then there use a bomb if they cant make a bomb they will use a truck ect same with criminals. Bazooka Joe
Aren't military calibres, .303/5.56/7.62 etc already all banned in France? One thing I cannot get my head round is the banning of military calibers. Apart from gaining soundbites what exactly does it achieve. Apart from gaining soundbites what exactly does it achieve. Can fully confirm from the contents of my cabinet that 'military' calibre's are not 'banned' Always been able to get them on 'ticket/authorisation' , then a few years ago there was the re-classification of Arms with the now A through to D and now some are not 'restricted' Before this many K98's and Lee Enfield were re chambered. Scotty99
Let's be clear here the ultimate aim of the political elitist class is to BAN ALL forms of private gun ownership. It will happen by stealth, a little at a time until the tipping point of a complete ban is reach. We as shooters of whatever type of discipline should oppose this at every turn. Gunman
It will depend on whether it comes as a Directive which has to ratified by each states government before it becomes the law of that country [ if they can be bothered ] .OR . A regulation that automatically passes into the law of each EU member state .
Mossyoak77
looking into this website they want to license the magazines we use no matter if its for a bolt, semi auto, straight pull etc just what stuff have those crackpots been smoking, license pieces of plastic/polymer/metal they have actually lost the plot looks like they have chosen to ignore vicky ford and her team's counter proposal/thoughts http://www.gunsweek.com/en/current/articles/eu-gun-ban-new-call-action-firearms-united
timb
I agree with the ban. What spoorting use can these weapons possibly have ? Who, other than armed services and the law enforcement community, need more than ten rounds in their magazine ? ordnance
I agree with the ban. What spoorting use can these weapons possibly have ? Who, other than armed services and the law enforcement community, need more than ten rounds in their magazine ? Someone shooting mini rifle, IPSC, police pistol etc etc. Banning will not stop terrorists getting firearms and the magazines to go with them, it certainly didn't stop they getting them here did it. ? srspower
Given we will have invoked article 50 before this comes in I don't see it being implemented here.
sportsbob
If we ever get to leave the EU the the first thing we will do is to adopt all there laws in an attempt to harmonise as much as possible, then over a considerable length of time some of the laws that really don't apply here will be dropped or modified to suit us better. Please don't think for one minute we will be safe from this. Edited November 27, 2016 by sportsbob

Bangbangman
I agree with the ban. What spoorting use can these weapons possibly have ? Who, other than armed services and the law enforcement community, need more than ten rounds in their magazine ? Incredibly naive and dangerous stance. This is death by a thousand cuts. Just because your shooting discipline isn't being targeted doesn't mean it won't be banned next. Your attitude of "it won't affect me so I don't care" is not only selfish but wrong. It may well affect you. If magazines are "licensed", the added bureaucratic burden for police and RFDs may mean the already shaky system grinds to a holt. I employ 30rnd mags in the sporting use of my firearm and I use AR-lookalikes. What logic is there to ban them. The criminals and terrorists won't care. United we stand, divided we fall. As shooters, we are a minority group and must come together to defend our sport, in all its wonderful variations. The antis will come after each of our disciplines, be it driven game or target. Don't bury your head in the sand; help us. We will be there when they come after YOUR sport. Edited November 27, 2016 by Bangbangman
BrowningB525
Eventually for our own protection they will all be banned, leaving just the criminals and the state armed? Wow! that means we are really much safer? It will have no ****** effect on the terrorist situation as they know full well. Rats and cheese, nibble, nibble, one day all gone? This is such a tiresome argument. Shooters in the UK defending themselves with guns is rare. Our guns don't make us any more safe.

MAB1954
Sad to see some of the comments on this thread. Gun owners need to stand together and put up a united front otherwise the anti's will slowly band all firearms...centre fire semi's are gone, rimfire semi's next then semi shotguns and so it will go on. Hope we can stand together and pass something on to the next generations.
