Scully
Had a call from a lady this morning who told me I was experiencing slow and intermittent broadband signals (I'm not) due to others using my internet connection. She then asked me to write down my license number which she gave me over the phone. We had some fun with this! At this point she asked me to log in at my computer, and enter the license number so I could then see who was using my connection, and it was at this point I hung up. Just a heads up. Edit: that should read Mumbai....on phone; small keys and fat fingers! Edited December 21, 2016 by Scully
billytheghillie
Bah, Humbug, I also got a call this morning and did what the lady requested, as a result my bank account has been cleaned out, but I don't care as its the season of goodwill to all men ( and ladies from Mumbai) . Merry Xmas Scully

Thunderbird
I'm sure Billy said this on another thread, but no unsolicited call from a foreign call centre is ever going to spell good news for you, your computer, or your bank account. Likewise, your bank is not going to call you asking for passwords, user-ids etc. Just hang up and block the number. Likewise, your bank is not going to call you asking for passwords, user-ids etc. Just hang up and block the number. If you know what you're doing and have half an hour to spare, take them on a ride. I get these calls every now and then and lead them on a long and drawn out trip with the clumsiest computer owner they've met. It can take fifteen minutes for you to just get the URL they're trying to get you to type in. Once you've established that, you just need to ask if you should turn the PC on and type it in... The more of their time you waste, the less time they have to scam someone. Once they've clocked you're not as stupid as you sound, just spend whatever time you have with them to remind them what scum they are. If I'm in th right mood I can have great sport with them, had a South African PPI one a few years ago and had him doing all sorts 45 min to a UK mobile can't be free.....
