washerboy
I remember shooting the old pink cased ones and they were hard recoil to say the least. Anyone tried the new plus version and are they any better?
rem708
They changed the powder manufacturer I believe and obviously the colour of the case other than that they are the same. I was informed today the price of lead is going up big time i.e.20% and this will effect the price of cartridges in the new year. I would suggest stocking up if you can
oowee
Just bought a thou clear pigeon up 20%, 400 hmr at old price but new stock up 30% and some .243 federal up 40%.
Pigeon Shredder.
Ran a load through the Russian Purdy at the weekend and they are as sweet as a nut. Bought 500 more yesterday & £43 a slab.

I would suggest stocking up if you can Scrap lead was around 55p per kg this time last year. It was £1.45 per kg recently which is a staggering swing. Danger-Mouse
I've been using them almost exclusively for over a year. I like them a lot. They don't seem overly punchy to me but then again I've mostly used them in a semi. Very consistent cartridges and I can't recall having more than a couple of duds in the several thousand I've shot. Pigeon Shredder.
I like the sound of £43 £166 per 1k plastic and £173 per 1k fiber is what I pay.
Danger-Mouse
£166 per 1k plastic and £173 per 1k fiber is what I pay. £40 a slab for fibre Velocity+.
BrowningB525
The plus are supposed to have slightly less recoil. I never found them that bad. Hull superfasts on the other hand...
SPARKIE
I find them ok but I'm far from being blown about by the wind lol. had both types too
buze
Don't you guys have dirt problems with velocity? Tried a slab last week, shot perhaps a 100 at skeet, and afterward my barrels were /filthy/ -- never seen anything like it, the chokes were full of some sort of crust that must be burnt plastic, I had to take a wire brush to them to remove the crud, it was pretty disgusting... My guess is that the plastic burns and melts and leave a deposit, and that 'brakes' the next shells a bit more etc. Also, I did find them quite thumpy. Won't be buying these again unless desperate... shaun4860
I have used the fibre ones for a while now, Definitely less punchy than previous model but I didn't find them punchy anyway, Currently using Eley Olympics 28g 71/2's and Eley Select 28g 8's Both a very nice smooth cartridge, Also played with Eley Select 24g 8's, again a nice smooth cartridge, Did try a couple of Fiochhi Blacks 28g 81/2 Shot, probably the smoothest cartridge I have tried for a long while All above in Fibre wad. EdSolomons
Never understood worrying about a shell being dirty!? Next shot will push the old stuff out anyway, if you like them crack on!
sitsinhedges
I found Velocities to be great in plastic but the fibres were awful. The amount of smoke from them was astounding and we were glad to see the back of them.
lksopener
Good cartridges. Ditto ed re: dirty cartridges I've never understood that.
buze
Never understood worrying about a shell being dirty!? Next shot will push the old stuff out anyway, if you like them crack on! No in this case, the deposit was somehow accumulating in the chokes. Some sort of tar like deposit. I twas the pastic case tho, so i assume the 'cups' were fouling the chokes. EdSolomons
I wouldn't let it worry you :-)
chris1961
They are made to a price I've shot a lot worse for the money you can't go wrong
figgy
I used to love the first ones they made in the clear uncoloured cases, they were a very good cart for the money. Remember reading an article on them where a top shot used them on a fitasc comp and won with them to prove a point that there was nothing wrong with them. Wilts#Dave
Used thousands of the velocity 29gm pigeon loads as well as the 28g clay loads.....never had a problem with either to be honest, prefer the pigeon loads in plastic wad. HW95J
Used these a few times in plastic wad and they perform well enough. Recoil has a snap to it but nothing uncomfortable. Have to agree on the barrel fouling though, had a tough build up of what I assume was melted plastic not far down from the chambers. Pretty difficult to remove though bore snake will do the best job of getting it out. If I find a stockist I would try them in fibre. Shot a box a while back then switched to EVO fibre in the same session, first pair of EVOs actually did a great job of cleaning the barrels... Squinting shot
I remember shooting the old pink cased ones and they were hard recoil to say the least. Anyone tried the new plus version and are they any better? Really good cartridges for the money I use 28 gram fibre wad 7.5 all the time never had a problem with any of them.
