Brodie
Was told yesterday by local RFD to expect another price increase for cartridges. He has been advised that prices are going up, around 15%, due to the increased cost of lead. I asked why they didn't go down when the pound improved against the euro & dollar - he asked what other jokes I knew.
Walker570
Beyond our comprehension. Just keep putting it in the air and enjoying yourself, this ain't a rehearsal :-) Edited February 12, 2017 by Walker570
TIGHTCHOKE
Well the shells I use have gone up £20 per thousand to me recently. I like the shell and cannot find anything as good for the price. I shall just keep using them.
scouser
If you can afford it stock up, a few years back when hornady messed up putting the HMR mk2 blue tip into the 17HMR, I managed to buy 4K at £8 a box, my RFD just stored them for me, that was in the days when I had a few bob. Long gone.
Konnie
Hit your target more often if on live quarry will help balance the increase out.....

Brodie
If due to the price of lead increasing can we expect to see non- toxic remain at the same price?
EdSolomons
Is expect more than one jump this year stock up now!
johnnytheboy
If due to the price of lead increasing can we expect to see non- toxic remain at the same price? This makes sense, because this story surrounding the price of lead going up is coming from everywhere, but doesn't explain why steel has went up as well! propercartridges
This makes sense, because this story surrounding the price of lead going up is coming from everywhere, but doesn't explain why steel has went up as well! yes and its climbing again to day on lme is 1950 that is the highest i have seen it knocks into about 72 pound plus vat to load 1k but i did warn you all my 32 gram at 189 looks cheap now eh

Benkent
Cost of lead is on the rise apparently. Price increases happen and I'm not too fussed about £20 increase per thousand which will last me 10 x 100 clays on the grand scheme of buying a gun and clothing etc £20 is nothing lol. True but it's not just £20 though is it. You add that to the price increase last month. It now becomes £40-50 per thou. I think the biggest hit will be to the comp clay shooters. The comp season for myself and a lot of my mates is about to start and will end around mid October. And will be shooting 1500- 2000 a month depending on disaplin and inculding practice. It's a lot of extra money to fork out Edited February 14, 2017 by stevo

Long gone. I spoke with Hornaday direct about the 'blue tip' phenomenon! Their response was along the lines of 'we used a different coloured polymer for the tips ie blue in lieu of red, this will make no difference in the performance of ammunition with the blue tips as opposed to red tips. The 'difference' is purely in the colourant used when the polymer is made'

walt1980
Spoke to Eley today, they've not been told they'll have an increase as yet. Still taking orders at current price to dealers. They MIGHT be one of the last to go up! Personally, I've just ordered a few more!!!

When the price of lead does go down do they reduce the price or just be cheeky and leave it as it is?
Fisheruk
Always use to be said the cost of lead was directly affected by the Soviets buying up the scrap lead for their fall out bunker screens.
wacker
So went into my local gun shop to get some carts and owner said that the cartridges are going up again. What was a "budget" cart like velocity, Superfast etc is now going to cost £205 a thou! (fibre wad) Pigeon loads will be around £250. Looks like i will cutting right back on clay shooting. Don't think i will be the only one. I think if most people start to cut back on clay shooting, the small shoots will start to suffer.
