Pykie
Just flicked through the Sporting Shooter and on the last page is an advert for another revamped Clear Pigeon cartridge from Gamebore. At least they look like they have made a clear case for them this time. Be interesting to see if they are any different from the current black cased ones. Wasabi
I think andy crow was testing them in a recent field sports Britain film.
8 shot
Can't be any worse than the last lot. Cut one open over Christmas just being nosy and the shot wasn't very uniform and some stuck together only noticed after patterning my miroku now switch to ELEY pigeon select better value
Ian North Wales
I have also made the switch to Eley from Clear Pigeon after patterning, I found Clear Pigeon to be very inconsistent. Had much better results from Eley HV.
chris1961
I found them to be carp compared to the old ones
7daysinaweek
Ahhh! that would explain my poor shot kill ratios i also found the old clear pigeon to pack a better punch than the newer black ones, i likened the black ones to similar energy of subsonic loads of same gram
8 shot
Probably be a 30/32g Pigeon Extreme at £300 a thousand
kennett
I'm glad it's not just me. I hated the black clear pigeons with a passion. Have used most of the other "pigeon" branded cartridges and get on well with most of them.
Whitebridges
Can't find anything about the new new new Gamebore Clear Pigeon. I remember the older versions with fondness. Everyone used them because they were spot on. I think i'm correct in saying Gamebore loaded the same shell for the foreign market. I also don't like the black cased model. Good riddance. 8 shot
Also remember them being £93/1000 I wouldn't mind a wager that the pigeon extreme is just a 34g clear pigeon from 15 years ago
Blackpowder
I liked the old clear pigeon, it was my cartridge of choice for all occasions. Never used the black as unfortunately they were no longer made in 65mm cases which suited all my vintage s xs guns. Wasabi
Ah the memories. The old clear pigeon were brilliant. Used to pay 23 quid a slab. Used them for everything from rabbit to pheasant to duck. I find the new ones kick like hell and pattern randomly.
White Rabbit
Has anyone tried the new version yet? Considering the uproar the last time they were revamped its been very quiet? Perhaps they havent reached the shops yet? I was expected pages of people saying the old version were better?! WR.
8 shot
God they'd have to be bad to be worse than the last version
Delwint
I went to get some on Friday and asked the gun shop owner about them and he didn't even know a new one was coming out. He taken delivery of a 100 slabs of clear pigeon so said let's go and see. Low and behold they were the old black ones 😕
johnnytheboy
Those eley pigeon select take bait of beating tbh I had good consistent kills with them and they were cheapest from JC for me Edited May 21, 2017 by johnnytheboy
White Rabbit
We've had a batch of Velocities in the black Clear Pigeon cases so I assumed they were using up the old stock. The new load mustnt have filtered through yet. WR.
activeviii
Im still using the old, clear with blue writting, only use them on the roost as they are so blumming good and consistent. i was given a number of boxes of the black ones. i couldnt hit a thing with them. had the same with my go to hide cartridge. now SGC have saked off then trust bag of cr@# im happy with the eley ones as im back to hitting birds, and at stupid distances, but then i use 3/4 of tighter. as for the clear pigeon. im not using any of them black things ever again. 8 shot
Won't touch gamebore again until they stop over pricing them. Fiocchi and Eley for me for the foreseeable future, better cartridges £30/£60 1000 cheaper
Me matt
Yep - im another one ditching gamebore... Just finished the last of the 1000 I previously bought, did quite a few test patterns over the 1k, anything less than full choke was proper hit & miss. The wad was the most accurate part of the load a lot of the time 🤔
chris1961
Used the original ones they were a great cartridges the black ones found them some what lacking in both pattern and performance God knows how much gamebore must be loosing out to other manufacturers as people are switching to other makes
rimmie
I haven seen any difference between old and new clear pigeons tbh. I have used them for years, use them for pheasants, pigeons the lot. (30g 6's) great cartridge.
motty
I think if Gamebore reverted back to the old cases and packaging, yet didn't change the components, I bet people would start saying how good they are....

Not this people- I've never used the old cased ones. But I can confirm very erratic patterns from the current version. If its a quiet day on the birds I always do a bit of pattening.
