Westley
Had my AA renewal, which after 23 years has now increased to £128. This is for Roadside Assistance and Relay on just my car. Looking at others and Green Flag are coming out at £50 which includes Home Start. Has anyone had call out experience with Green Flag (or any other Company) and would they recommend them ? Thanks in advance Guys.
TIGHTCHOKE
I moved from the RAC some years back when the cost became unrealistic. Have been with Greenflag ever since and have called them out once and currently very happy with their cover.
Davyo
Green flag are fine, some garages like Ford now include 1 yrs breakdown if you get a service.
Westley
Thanks for that Guys. In fairness, I have had 2 Honda's and they are covered by AA for the duration of the Warranty (three years) so the AA just suspended my membership until the Warranty expired last month. So, the last 6 years AA cover have been in with the new vehicle warranty. Now I have 1 month to run before my renewal. Looks like I will be waving a different coloured flag in future ! Gordon R
I was with the RAC for donkeys years and the AA - never used them really - until prices went through the roof. Been with Green Flag for about 3 years - called them out when wife's auto refused to start. It would not turn over - quickly diagnosed to be an auto box - neutral/park selection problem. Diagnosed and running within 5 minutes. I was impressed.
Longman
Been with the AA for around 13 years, and are premium kept going up!! When I phoned to tell them to stick it!! They said that because we had been members for over 10 years they let you have part of your cover foc it's just that they don't tell you!! Ring them and have a word
Del T
You have to phone them and say you're not happy. Mine goes up every year but a quick call and it's reduced to a couple of pounds more than the last year's price. They always try a silly renewal price every year. I suppose many people just pay up. BrowningB525
I'm with start rescue. £30 odd a year for Mario wide recovery. When I had to use them, they were perfect.

Loki
Hi Suggest it would be worth looking at Martin Lewis's (Money Savings Expert) suggestions on the options before committing. L
Walker570
Been with Green Flag for about 12yrs or thereabouts and they have always been superb. HOWEVER, the last call out, the person answering the call could hardly be heard for the background noise, then it took best part of 1hr 25mins to turn out when they used to give a hand out if they were more than an hour. Definitely changed for sure. HOWEVER, as always when they did arrive the mechanic was golden, tried everything in the book, but eventually towed me home. Next morning I called and they turned out within 45 mins and took the Landie to my local garage. Really cannot fault them. I have their full top cover all but Continental. Will certainly still stay with them, but monitor any future activity ..which of course hope never happens.
four-wheel-drive
One thing that I found out several years ago as long as you do not call them out they keep the price cheap but call them out one or two times and the price goes through the roof I had a battery drain problem on one car never could get to the bottom of it. had to fit a battery kill switch to use if I was not going to be using it for a couple of days did the trick but the car computer did not like being shut down to often car/truck now sold. Start Rescue were the top of the pile in a Which report I read the other day.... I've been with AutoAid for several years now following recommendation on MSE, I've never had to use them and just renewed ..... they'll now pay up front for assistance instead of me paying and reclaiming which is useful. Think I'll be going with Start next year. Cheers Fizz

daveboy
I use a "travel pack" attached to my joint bank account, We get top of the range RAC cover for mine and the wife's cars and motorbikes and worldwide travel insurance. We also get phone and gadget insurance included. You would have to work out if it was worth it for you (do you need travel insurance etc) The monthly charge varies from bank to bank. AVB
I am with RAC (there are two Land Rovers in the family so recovery of some sort is essential!). However this year has gone up by £50 to £258. I was considering Green Flag who quoted £150 but their reviews on TrustPilot are abysmal. And I mean abysmal. I'm going to give RAC a call to see what they can do on price. Or try AA.

BrowningB525
I've just had my renewal through from start rescue. They REDUCE their renewal prices. I honestly can't recommend them enough. I've only had to use them once but they were brilliant. U don't get why someone would pay 3-4x the price to get the same level if cover from the big names.
