But there should also be consequences for the EU.....we,ve paid massive amounts of money for some of their "assetts"....perhaps they should settle their bill with us first?

Which is what I believe that the UK have done. The proposed £18bn is a combination of outstanding debts that we 'owe' - rebate for assets that we have previously contributed to + a fee for access to the single market for two years. I could be wrong and I have no idea of how the constituent parts to the sum are derived. It's probably a finger in the air exercise.

I rather suspect that since the EU have not managed to produce an accurate and error free set of accounts, they don't really have a clear picture of how much we 'owe' or 'are owed'. Hence the wild variation in figures being quoted. Like all negotiations, the seller starts asking 'high' and the buyer offers 'low' - and negotiation takes place to see if a meet can be agreed somewhere in between. If we started offering £18 Bn - then I think we have started in the wrong place ......... we should have started very low.

The finer details are way over my head, so I'll leave it to you and TM to sort it all out :whistling: I'm sure she'll benefit from your wisdom xx

If you don't want to be disagreed with then don't post something on line, my view is every bit as valid as yours and I didn't purposely try to offend you, if you find you don't understand anything else Give me a shout and I'll explain it to you xx Edited by 12gauge82

I don't mind being disagreed with; being married, I'm used to it :innocent: I didn't think for one second that you were trying to offend me……. And the point I made about the finer details being way over my head is a fact. The bit about you and TM is what is known as light humour :) Chill Bill :)

First off Mossberg ,you are a Hungarian citizen living in the UK, as there is no state or country of the EU , you cannot really be an EU citizen, you can be European if you wish to call yourself that.

If you no longer want to be Hungarian, apply for UK citizenship, youve been here long enough for there to be no issue with that.

Secondly, you are not a 'remainer' as you are not a UK citizen, you could not vote in the referendum (I hope) you are someone who would like to remain in the UK after we (eventually) leave, again no issue with that, you are a working man ,who has benefitted this country.

Ms May is not your elected leader, as you could not vote for her, in fact non of the electorate voted for her.

What they did vote for, was to leave the EU, its her job to make that happen, without dragging her heels, without paying stupid divorce 'bills' and without a watered down version of what the people voted for.

The Federal socialist state of Europe is the dream of people like Junker and Barnier, they dont want nations, or cultural identities, any sort of pride in your race or heritage.

They dont really want it to be a democracy either, imagine the type of communist dictatorship Hungary used to have, with a government of elites, secret police, shortages and crushing poverty ?

Thats what they are aspiring to, for every country in Europe.

I wont vote for that you say ? You wont get the chance !

I keep asking the question, how did we get to this point, where a trading bloc are telling us what to do ,politically, culturally and legally ?

A bloc who didnt even write in an exit plan for countries wanting to leave them within their constitution.

They are going to do it by stealth, bit by bit, until its too late to stop them.

Thats what you are supporting, a pathway back to the dark days of Eastern Europe in the 50 s and 60 s.

A broken economy propping up poor and failing nations, a broken currency, totally uncontrolled immigration from outside Europe, rampant political correctness causing hate and suspicion.

There is no peace and prosperity in that path.

+1 Wasn't it Gorbachev who asked why the EU was trying to build up what he'd spent the last 20 years helping to bring down?

Like at ZERO! and extending the "transition" period means another massive influx of Romainian, Slovakian, Albanian and Bulgarian semi-illiterate unskilled labour....which Corbyn will embrace with open arms, grant them British citizenship, give them the vote, and have a permanent Labour majority! It stinks!

Are you certain the "strange childhood" is for the leave voters..

Seems Ok to quote it when it suits, yet dismissed when it doesn't.

IE: Democracy has spoken, we voted OUT!!!!!.......

But we did vote OUT! so those disappointed by that result should just shut up and get on with helping their country to move forwards OUT of the EU, and into a new era!

I love this democracy thing.

First part of the process, vote for the policy/politician that you are entitled to and want enacted.

Second part of the process, the so call democratically elected politico's then decides that conscience dictates they vote against what they were elected to carry out.

Brilliant, just as crooked as Europe.

Rightly so. WE NEED THESE SKILLS and most are far more literate than the average Brit.

All was good when the boot was on the other foot in the 80's and we were jetting off to Germany for work. :hmm:

We voted out but there are very many versions of out. We now have to work to try to ensure that whilst we might be out we are as much in as possible :lol: Many a twixt slip cup and lip :good:

That was when they (Germany) wanted and needed our bricklayers, nobody went out to Germany for their benefits!

Irrelevant we are supposed to be living in a democracy and the people have spoken, it's also been proven that the huge influx of unskilled labour in this country has been in fact a very bad thing for average working person.

It's funny that there are now many versions of out as when the referendum took place it was very clear and was made very clear by the remain side stating that if we left it would mean leaving everything that went with being a member of the EU and all the since rubbished predictions of doom and gloom that went with it.

It's much simpler than all that anyway, the people have voted out, how anyone can now argue with that is just plain wrong no matter how it's twisted.

If no one has opened my DT link it appears the EU scripted the part of her speech talking about meeting our financial obligations in full and transitions, she needs prosecuting for treason as do 99% of Parliament and the Lords.

Really ?

Even if that were remotely true, we can still have their 'skills' they will just have to apply for a residency/work visa.

Anyone who is useful can come in, the idea is that your average European layabout can not just roll up and claim the sort of benefits they could only dream of getting back home.

Do you not like the sound of that ?

I think the offer of guaranteeing the rights of EU migrants already living here is pretty generous, the EU says its not enough.

The EU wants the Irish border issue sorted, they have said they dont want to see a physical border, the Irish dont want a physical border, the UK government dont want a physical border, and already have an agreement in place for it, the EU says thats not enough.

The EU wants a 'divorce bill' but despite noises from Brussels like 50 -100 billion , not once in 6 months have the EU team mentioned a figure, but its OUR fault ,talks are stalled on the matter, and we know what that means... no trade talks.

TM made her speech in Florence, much to the fury of leavers, promising a transition period and billions for the privilege, guess what ?

Thats not good enough either.

Are you seeing the light yet ?

At the risk of being battered by the PC brigade, aren't our Police Forces already overloaded, without topping up every other week :hmm:

These things are more prevalent than you may think…..

Hopefully that will see her replaced as PM. She is just an EU stooge, Cameron in a dress.

Agree with this. But we have much of this power now with non EU and choose not to or are unable to use it. We would need visa'as that encourage not dissuade.

The border issue is .......... well who knows the answer to what looks like a simple question.

The rest is just part of the bargain that has to be struck. The UK side has not mentioned a figure (in public) only press speculation.

No political party loses an election...ever....they give it to the opposition! The way this shower of **** are screwing ordinary people with the continued underfunding of the NHS and public services, together with their unrelenting "we're all in it together" austerity..............and now the seemingly deliberate **** up of Brexit.....they're selling us down the river by handing the country on a plate to the hard left and Corbin with his empty populist promises........when the inevitable happens, that is when we will really experience pain!
