Brexit - Merged Threads

Juncker and Barmier are currently simply collecting 'concessions' from the UK - not negotiating, which by the way is a two way give and take process - not just take. It is now quite clear that they are out to 'punish' and make Brexit look as unattractive as possible to deter other potential leavers. They are not playing 'fair and reasonable' by refusing to talk about trade arrangements. We now need to dig in and be firm - not something any British government (possibly except Thatcher) excels at - and tell Juncker and Barmier that unless trade talks start by the end of October - we walk away and all offers including the 'divorce bill' to date are now 'off the table' and withdrawn.

Therefore it is increasingly likely that we will need to 'walk away' with a no deal. Provided that is a genuine 'no deal', which means we pay them NOTHING, tear up those of their rules we don't need - and migrate any we do need into British law.

Let's be quite clear:

  • WE have subsidised their cosy little empire ever since we joined the Common Market
  • The UK and all European countries need trade ...... both ways - their industry will pressure their leaders to do sensible trade deals
  • They need to understand that we are happy to trade (that is why we joined the Common Market in the first place) - but on fair terms and not subsidising their inefficiency
  • We have been FAR too soft with them
  • It is wrong that we have to 'pay' to get a fair trade deal; Ideally trade should be open and tariff free, but they need tariffs, rules, bureaucracy simply to justify their existence - and then to pay for their administration - if you sweep away the rules, you don't need the bureaucrats.
  • IF we are seen as 'paying' for trade with Europe, then the US and others may see this as a 'subsidy' to help our industry to trade - and do what they are trying to do with Bombardier

The 29th of March approaches!

Yes, the time when we should sever all ties with the EU. Not half in and half out. No interim measures. No transition period. No being subject to the European Court of Justice. The government and it's departments have had long enough to prepare for this, instead they have been dragging their feet. Hard Brexit is the only sensible option. Out means out.

Did anybody listen to that bottom wipe Nick Clegg on the Jeremy Vine show today? He is writing a book about how to stop Brexit. He says that we should have another referendum as Brexiters were lied to about what benefits leaving the EU would bring. And nothing about the lies that the Remainers told about plague and pestulance striking the UK if we dared to vote to leave.

Can he even write his name? More like lending his name to a book written by a.n. other.

The EU is playing hardball and extracting what concessions they can from the UK, with the threat, that they will not start negotiating until the UK gives enough concessions/money! But they will give nothing in return and will not stipulate what amounts to enough! concessions/money.....they just keep repeating "not enough, give us more"

If your stupid you can roll over and keep giving.......but you can't reach a deal with those that won't negotiate, the EU have had their chance, if they won't enter negotiations on all aspects of Brexit now, we should tell them they will not be offered another chance to agree mutually beneficial terms.........and we will leave without further delay!

As has been said "the ball is in their court" I think we should give them 14 days to agree.......if not we're out!

Then watch the likes of VW, Audi and other major EU exporters to the UK give them a kicking!

It's time for Appeaser Theresa to go, the woman is a joke. It is clear that she is weak with no sense of direction or purpose. Rather than a unified public front we have spats and conflicting messages from Cabinet Ministers on a daily basis. Andrea Leadsom or Jacob Reece Mogg are committed to Brexit and would get the job done. A cabinet split between Remainers and Brexiters will result in us being half in and half out.

I am sick to death of hearing comments about the rights, and the EU demanding the rights of EU citizens in the UK.

I have not heard a single word about the rights of UK citizens living in the EU.

I have 2 good friends living in the EU cacking themselves about their future.

How difficult is it....

your rights are preserved in the UK as long as our citizens rights are preserved in the EU!

Which part of that is difficult or even needs debating?

Theresa May under pressure over secret advice on halting Brexit

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/oct/07/theresa-may-secret-advice-brexit-eu

"Theresa May is under pressure to publish secret legal advice that is believed to state that parliament could still stop Brexit before the end of March 2019 if MPs judge that a change of mind is in the national interest. The move comes as concern grows that exit talks with Brussels are heading for disaster."

It,s from the Guardian, which is as big a liar as the Daily Smearer! (Both solid Labour papers!)

No surprises here, look at the EUs silence on the brutality dished out by the Spanish police, completely disproportionate abuse of power. The EU and the corrupt MPs within the UK government will stop at nothing to overturn a democratic vote, despicable behaviour!

It,s from the Guardian....take no notice, its FAKE NEWS!

so off go the negociators to the EU parliament to get a vote ...more or less adds up to..."shall we make the UK squeal like a stuck pig some more"...or shall we accept a few points..............

i do hope we are taking notes as to who our friends are ...what countries are voting for us.........so when the time comes....and yes my friends ..it will come as the wheel turns........we may ask them who didnt vote kindly towards us...... to remember their past transgressions................

And If we walk away neither will be! It will free us up to determine for ourselves what kind of future relationship we want with the EU.......rather than them dictating the terms that suit them!

History and war has shown the UK has always taken the lead in Europe......not been lead by Europe!......it's time we took our sovereignty back!

your wish is slowly coming true............no deal is better than a poor deal;...........................and that is on the cards now..

You could be right but it is still early days. I think the EU regret not offering Cameron more when he was renegotiating. If the had done the the referendum may well have been avoided. They don't want 'no deal' any more than we do so I believe a deal will be reached eventually. But at the moment it is all posturing.
