Hard weather ducks on Lough Neagh

Man & dog in the same mindset.Plenty of ducks around by the sound of the other guns along the shore. I'm glad you had a legitimate excuse for the overhead miss;I could never get along with Berettas & religiously stick to my Browning these days (I rely on sneaky editing for my failures)! It came good for you in the end.A pleasure to watch whilst I'm looking out on 6-7" of snow outside the window.I wonder if the other guns out have a self imposed bag limit?A sensible idea .

Many thanks for your kind words.

I decided to impose my own bag limit when I heard of huge bags from others. I still hear of silly numbers being shot. Then I hear the same people wonder why the shooting isn't as good as it used to be.

Brilliant mornings sport in lovely weather. One of those special days.Another great video always good to watch.

Many thanks greylag.  I'll blame the misses on the Beretta.

Self imposed bag limits are the stamp of a true sportsman, wildfowler. Why on earth would you want to take more than you can use.Better to leave with more fowl on the wing left undisturbed,or sit quietly and watch. Some people just cannot stop themselves and would continue bagging up then boast about numbers.

Well said. It's something that irritates me greatly about some parts of the shooting / wildfowling fraternity.

I wouldn't call this type of shooting wildfowling - sitting in a purpose built hide on a big fresh water lough - but I have done my fair share of coastal fowling in in my earlier years. I would argue that being a wildfowler is more of a state of mind rather than the place you shoot. Top of that state of mind has to be respect for your quarry.

I'm a bit late catching up with your latest escapade and its another cracker.

I almost ducked (no pun intended) when those teal whistled in, I have had them nearly take my head off at 100mph. I like the self imposed bag limit, I had one when wildfowling, its a great idea.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Cranfield - teal certainly do test your reflexes!

Nice Al. Fair play to you cutting the flight early. There are too many boys shooting on that lough that would shoot all day and end up with massive bags of ducks.

I started doing it about 10 years ago - it does my head in when I hear of stupid bag numbers.
