team tractor
I remember in the early models they wasn’t great but has anyone tried the later models ? I’m looking at one in section 1 as they are only £325 new which is in budget. Am I wasting my money ? I haven’t really got more than £400 and tried looking second hand . Is the 3 year warranty any good ?

SPARKIE
I had a 12g used to play up all the time. my lad has a 20bore and that's had a few issues in the past. easily fixed but better off getting an old rem1100
Zetter
Personally having had one I would pick up an Armsan 612 mine was faultless and they have had universally good reviews. Similar money as well and they go for <£300 2nd hand

Danger-Mouse
I've had one for nearly 3 years and I like it a lot. I have just had one of the springs snap but it's been replaced by Edgar Bros. (Did have some issues there but that was down to the RFD who I bought it from pulling a bit of a fast one) Other than that it's been a faultless gun that I've shot plenty of clays and pigeons with. It cycles pretty much anything although it can be a bit hit and miss with shorter cartridges like Comp X. If you're willing to consider 2nd hand guns what about a Winchester SX3? The synthetic versions are about £700 new so you might be able to find a 2nd hand one around your budget.
eastlincs
New to shooting and have no experience with the escorts but I went into forest lodge guns recently as im after buying a cheap semi, I was wanting to buy a escort as they are cheap new and they said the same as above they’d recommend a armsan a612 every time now for the same money. (They had both guns in so wasn’t just tryin to palm me off with stock either)

Get one easily under your £400 mark Just saying .
Wymondley
I paid about £100 for my gen' 2 Escort. It was in a very sorry state, I think it had been a keepers/farm gun kept in a pickup or a tractor, the action had been butchered where someone had cleared a jam with a screwdriver! But it still shot, very well actually. It's since had a total strip and clean and 1000+ rounds through it without a problem, I'd be reluctant to part with it. There's plenty of clean used ones out there under £200, buy one, try it, if it fails to impress, you'll probably sell it on for what you paid. Wingman
I had one brand new, wasn’t a great gun to be honest regularly jammed on cartridges from 28 grams to 36 grams i couldn’t put my finger on what the issue was kept it for about 6 months but got rid when it let me down pigeon shooting now have an armsan and it’s been faultless. Not a massive auto fan and i wouldn’t spend a lot on a semi but the armsan is highly recommended and does me for a reliable knock about hide gun and for foxing. Is the 3 year warranty any good ? The older models did cause many problems, but 99% of them were cured when the newer models were introduced. One problem was with cycling the cartridges. I have a FAC (8 shot) version which is now approx 7 years old. It hasn't missed a beat and has served me well. As with most semi-auto shotguns, it has to be kept clean, especially around the piston etc. Also, there is a small hole on the barrel that vents the gas to operate the piston, and this can get blocked. Keep this clean, along with the piston, use the correct length cartridges, and you should be okay. The 3 year warranty is good too. A mate of mine had a problem with his after just over 2 years of use, and Edgar Bros put it right for him.

team tractor
Sorted now , I’ve picked up a 4+1 for £120 from a local gunsmiths/shop . Tried and tested in his workshop in front of me and I’m really happy with it. Diawa a500 which is from what I understand an old browning design. He said it’s the same as multiple other manufacturers but all slightly different. At that price I’m happy plus he stripped it down in front of me and it’s mint.
