Zetter
Vit N160 Colin in mine goes really well for 67gn Vmax and 87gn soft points. Both giving <1" groups at 100 yards no issues Cheers Neil
colin lad
Sounds good as most the viht powders will still be easy to get hold of
Zetter
Yep got mine from Case Prep in Marston. What I like about N160 is it covers a fair range of bullet weights from 65gn up to 100gn so I can load speedy little 65s for fox and heavier stuff for deer without swapping powders all the time. To be fair it cant do smaller pills like 55gn but I can live with that as 65gn perform really well in my Sako

Graham M
See if you can find some H414 before it's gone forever.
bluesj
H4895 will do 55 too 107grn bullets and 110 too 200grn .308, in 243 I load 58grn ballistic tips and 95 grn soft points that can hit within 1.5 inches of each other at 200 yards on the same zero. Shame I cant always do it and its a shame that H4895 is on the to be banned list. My advice would be don't bother with any thing that is on the list because your going to have to change at some point Edited September 3, 2018 by bluesj
Graham M
Alliant powders are pushing a new powder on the market, Reloader 16, for .243 http://alliantpowder.com/reloaders/powderlist.aspx?page=/reloaders/powderlist.aspx&type=1&powderid=41&cartridge=51 Seems to be much along the lines of H414

I have but wouldn't bother if I wasn't already using it, same for trail boss but don't use much of that.
dicehorn
Personally think the OP should steer away from the non 'REACH' compliant powders like Varget and the H powders. I was a fan of Varget until 12 months ago when I heard of its future as far as the EU was concerned. N160 as already stated is worth trying and also RS60 assuming you intend to use bullets in the 70 - 95 gr range
cervusman
I only use N160 in my 243, 42gr with a 95gr SST bullet and I’ve used them for all my needs from fox to reds. I mostly use my 243 for muntjac and cwd.
colin lad
thanks all i am looking at rs60 at the moment as i don't want to use something that wont be about soon have had that with my .222 and .204 i use h322 for triple ans imr8208 for 204 and have had to stock up with 3 tubs of each for them and don't want the hassle of hunting down another powder also n160 is plentiful round this way thanks colin

welshwarrior
I use TU5000 unusual but easy to get hold if you know where to look and very consistent I load it with 100gn Sierra and it’s spot on.
moor man
Alliant Reloader 22 worked well for me with 140gn deer loads, (the foxes didn't complain either)
activeviii
Colin, h414 was a very good powder. That's what John had in his 243. Now I'm switching it to n150. Rs60 is the bouble base powder and its only 20fps different than rs62 that I use for the 6.5 creedmore. Neil has a tube and half of h414. But as it's a new rifle I will start with a new powder for him.
mick miller
Reload Swiss is a good choice Colin, very impressed so far with it in 243, 260 and 17 hornet.
