casts_by_fly
Hi all, per ear the title, is there a such thing as waterproof moleskins? I prefer moleskins for a day of shooting because they are comfortable and warm but after getting a bit soaked through Saturday (only below the coat and above the boots) I’m looking at the weak link in the clothing chain. If they don’t I’ll try silicon spray first but I don’t think that would help against what we had Saturday. Goretex would be better if it exists with moleskin. Worst case I’ll look at breeks that are goretex. Thanks rick
hambone
try some waxed cotton chaps or treggings. these look good but I use the side stud type at the moment. https://www.newforestclothing.co.uk/accessories/accessories/wax-chaps.html

Big Al
I have these: https://www.newforestclothing.co.uk/sherwood-forest-kingswood-trousers.html They are a bit noisy until they warm up but very tough, waterproof and comfortable. You'll get them cheaper than this too if you shop around. Edit to add, I know they aren't moleskins but ....... I have a pair of German moleskins by `Rascher` that I bought off the `bay`. If I remember correctly the guy I bought them from had bought them direct from Rascher off the web but got his Euro & English sizes mixed up & they were to small for him. They are lined full length with Gortex or similar and I think set him back well over a hundred quid. Typical German quality and are totally waterproof. Not sure if there is a UK importer as the seller`s ad said he bought direct from Germany. Edited December 10, 2018 by JJsDad
panoma1
Not moleskin but Seeland 'woodcock' breeks are waterproof, and comparatively inexpensive, save the moleskins for dry/cold days!
Westley
I have a pair of Musto waterproof breeks in what is their version of Moleskin. They are totally waterproof and are cut generously enough to allow them to 'fold' over the tops of wellies so the water stays on the outside. Only gripe, the pockets are not deep enough and if you sit down, you lose things !
matone
Cotton is the worst stuff for chilling once wet through . `Cotton kills` is the mantra for extreme weather .I`d try and find an alternative man made fibre product if possible but you really can`t beat wool tweeds in the field .
