shaun4860
The legend that was Niki Lauda passed away aged 70 overnight. what he achieved in his career was amazing. 3 times world champion. Only losing to James Hunt by a single point after his horrific accident stopped him being a 4 time champion. His era was a lot more dangerous than today's. You never knew if you would survive the season. He was told he wouldn't survive after his accident, yet was racing 6 weeks later. RIP Niki Lauder, a true legend of the sport of F1 Thoughts go to his family

Hamster
One of the reasons I like F1 is that there are just so many hyper intelligent people in it, Lauda had speed and brains and it showed every time he spoke, RIP.
Jbob
Very sad news. I'm too young to have seen him race but know how dangerous the era of F1 was back then. He was driver, engineer and sportsman of the highest order and will be sorely missed. RIP Niki Lauda 🏎️

washerboy
The word legend was made for the likes of Niki Lauda, I remember reading my dad's paper the day after his crash and thinking how someone could survive that. 6 weeks later he was out driving, wonderful guy and always a font of knowledge when he was interviewed. RIP

Vince Green
Ultimately it was the accident that finally killed him all these years later. He looked well but the damage to his lungs was more extensive than it appeared on the outside and he suffered more as they deteriorated. He underwent a lung transplant but it was not totally successful
