A Bank Holiday That Will Take Some Beating

I hope you have all enjoyed some of the stunning weather we have had over the last three days and according to tonight's weather forecast we have got another hot day tomorrow .

Going back to February we were in short shirt sleeves in 20 + degrees , and last month we had mid thirties with Cambridgeshire reaching a all time high at over 38 degrees , and now this weekend which was another record , something strange is going on with our weather .

Saturday afternoon I was shooting and when the sun came round to face me head on after enjoying a couple of hours in the shade it was scorching and with very little moving it was time to pack up and head off home for a cold drink .

Yesterday was again a very hot day and we spent an enjoyable hour waiting for the East Coast Truckers to take the young lads and lasses who have had a poor start in life on the annual trip from Norwich to the fun park at Lowertoft , if you have never seen it before you have certainly missed something special with around 100 lorries and police escorts with 100s of people lining the roads and bridges coming into Yarmouth , if you have seen it I bet you have wiped a tear from your eyes .

Today was another glorious day with the town packed with people heading to the sea front where it was a little cooler from a slight sea breeze , although we headed inland to go around the Broads where after dinner it got to 31% and I had to give my dog several swims to keep him cool in a damp coat , all in all , if you like the sunshine , the last three days were up there amongst the best .

So how was your long weekend ?

From the sounds of it you have had a fantastic bank holiday.

Saturday for us was spent preping for an engagement party. Not mine I have been wed for 7yrs in a couple of weeks. My mother in law has found happiness again so we were celebrating that. Lovely evening out ours with a few beers and good food cooked by lovely wife.

Yesterday we went to the beach then my daughter had some more riding lessons with her pony.

Today more riding first thing the to bude for a car boot and a couple more hrs at the beach. My wife loves the beach and was teaching our littlen body boarding. Was a pleasure to watch.

Hope everyone had a good bank holiday, the weather has certainly made it a good one. Just hope tomorrow is nice as I booked an extra day off work to make it a nice long break.

Your weekend sound's good to me , plenty of fresh air and I hope you will get another good day tomorrow .

I love your part of the country but it's a fair way from Norfolk , when I went in the R N I had to go to Plymouth , at that time it was the furthest I had been away from my home , I got friendly with a lad who lived at Crediton and would spend a long weekend's leave at his , lovely area and very nice people .

When you think the wild fowling season starts in a few days time , weather wise we seem as if we are light years from the weather we are used to when fowling , I walked down the marsh last thing last night and there are about 300 resident Greylags  feeding on the stubble's , apart from these I saw very few duck , the main problem I had was being eaten alive with the midges and many other insects that were about in the humid hot weather , should be a bit cooler by the weekend , let's hope so .:good:

I have to agreed with the parade on yarmouth front, took my lad this year and last, I'm far from the emotional type but after the first few had gone past I had to put my sunnies back on.

Plenty on sun all weekend, wander round the perms this evening, can't be beat.

Hope you are on the mend from your recent bout of shingles , I have never had it and by the sound of it I hope I never get it , if I did I think it would just about finish me off

Did you go and have a look at the recently opened Waterways along the sea front ? , it got a very good review .

It’s been brilliant. Early morning air gunning on the stubble, home for 9am and out to the car show, back home and four hours in the workshop to catch up, then a pleasant wander to the local for Bevvies and wander back home for scoff. I love global warming. Could do with a bit more in January though.

13 degrees , my god , that would put paid to the majority of the goldie oldies if we got temps like that in August 😊 , I will try and take a photo of our Sugar beet fields that are dry as a bone and the leaves are getting welded to the soil , very rare to get it like this when the beet factory is only a few weeks from opening .

Good luck with your pond holding the duck , at least your weather is ideal to shoot duck in .

That would be natureboy 😂

After the last couple months I don't think I could handle shingles either.

We walked right past that without even realising, hopefully it will still be there come next years visit lol.

Solid clay will make the beet hard to harvest !  temps down to 10c this week..😉

Fantastic weekend here thanks.

Gym Saturday morning, then some prep for a BBQ while my wife had lunch with firends, then sat in the sun until I lit the barbie at 5 and ate and drank until gone 10pm only downside was the candles overflowed onto the decking and made a bit of a mess.

Sunday was straight to the beach, cheese toasty from the shack and tea to follow, then my wife sat in the sun and I fished. Late lunch of cold cuts from the barbie with salad and roast veggies and then my wife wanted a paddle in my kayak, she says she enjoyed it even though it was a lot different to the canoe but is still adamant she isn`t coming out kayak fishing with us.

Oh and 6 good sized fillets from this and some mackerel to smoke...

That look like a fantastic fish and by all accounts you and the rest of the replies had a weekend to remember , the hardest thing for some of the above is heading back to work today .

Just to rub salt in the wounds , this morning was already 20 odd degrees at 8 in the morning when I went for a walk up the river , the river itself had a mirror image and with no breeze was as flat as a mill pond .

Cos we Suffolkngood boi! 😉  For what it's worth MM my weekend carp! Ta. Shingles  really done for me. No energy, pounding head, sick dizzy, no appetite, blured vision,  constant pain, little sleep and the weirdest vivid surreal dreams! Clock watching to keep taking meds and painkillers. Feels like having severe sunburn being thrashed with nettles and with what feel like random wasp stings thrown in! Pins and needles sensitive to sunlight and heat to. So didn't go far or feel up to doing much. Scabbing up to day not so red but itching bad! Well cranky and wouldn't wish it on anyone!  NB

Someone thieve'n scum had a good weekend locally. Stealing load of sun flowers of all things out of RBAPS experimental crop on local farm! Total low life ignorance when farmers trying to do there best/new ways to help NE and wildlife! No sunflowers no payment for farmer!  . . . . .  See in media  BBC producer (Jane Mcmurran) was seen and filmed letting and encouraging her dog to worry sheep!  Even after being challenged twice and  offered a lead, told it was being filmed and dog could be shot she told folk where to go!     NB

Sorry to hear that Nature boy , it should be cooling down a bit over the next few days and hopefully you will be well enough to get out a bit more , I think getting out in our beloved countryside when felling unwell is the best tonic you can be can be given by any doctor .

Hope you soon see some improvement N B.
