Winter Fuel Payment

I've read or heard that the above is age related, and that most people can claim this. Is there anyone on here that claims this payment, and is still in full employment? I've had an email back from the Gov.UK people but don't understand it.

This is what I was sent when I made a general enquiry.

Thank you for your enquiry

Winter Fuel is an age related benefit that is paid directly to eligible customers, and is currently based on the customer (either man or woman) attaining woman’s State Pension Age by the end of the Winter Fuel Payment qualifying week. (Usually the third week in September)

Each year the qualifying date changes in line with the Equalisation of State Pension Age for Women. State Pension is longer claimed at 60 therefore the Winter Fuel Payment is no longer paid at 60 either

When finalised, then anyone with a date of birth of the 6/10/54 or later will receive the Winter Fuel Payment based on the customer attaining state pension age by the end of the WFP qualifying week.

The payment is from £100 - £300, but how much you get depends on your age group and circumstances during the winter fuel qualifying week

My wife and I get £100 each, we both have State Pension and we are both still working, albeit self employed. I have had mine since I was 65 and it was £200. My wife is younger, but when she had her State pension the winter fuel allowance was split between us and we both get separate £100.

I'm 62 (63 in March 2020) in full time work and married. My wife is not working and doesn't claim anything. Would I be entitled to something, and how do I go about claiming it?

I’m not certain but I think you need to be 65 before you qualify? But that may have changed due to the increase in pensionable age? When you qualify (by age) I think you get notification by post of the impending payment....then it is paid directly into your bank account by DWP, you don’t have to ‘claim’ it.

hello, thanks john, i got to hear this nice fishery will be finished soon and turned into a carp fishers paradise

Ah, like so many others. I have a beautiful water near me totally neglected as it has no Carp. Pike to 28lb, Chub to 7lb, Bream to 8lb, Perch to 4lb, Roach to 2lb+, Trout to 6lbs (although rare) plus other species. £3. a day. No Carp so it hardly gets fished anymore. Last time I fished it the bailiff said I  was also the last to fish it some two months before. Dam Flask reservoir if you look it up

I think it must be age related, I'm fully retired, disabled now but under 65. No cartridge allowance for me or the Mrs.

I got £100, didn't expect it. But I don't live with anyone else who qualifies so why didn't I get £200? Looking at that table I should have done

If you are over 65 and are the only one in the household of that age........I think you should have gotten £200?.........Appeal to the DWP!
