Scotch Eggs

there is precedent.

1955 High Court case of Solomon v Green where the High Court ruled that sausages on sticks constituted such a meal.

1965 case of Timmis v Millman, which found that a sandwich only counts if 'accompanied by beetroot and pickles'.

and I’d like to know how Covid knows what you are eating. Eat substantial meal = safe, eat unsubstantial meal = unsafe.

Blimey  Vince, talk about wrong side of the bed.

I think its more about someone trying to keep in business during these hard times. An extremely high % of small pubs in rural area's will not be opening their doors again. What was once a centre of many a village community are closing fast, if they see the chance to open legally and keep  money going into the till then fair enough. Not condoning what we have seen going on in the cities by brainless inconsiderate oxygen thieves, but when i have been out round the locals that where still able to remain open covid rules where being followed to the T.

does anybody actually believe that scotch eggs represent a substantial meal?

or is is just a P take?

I'm with the police on this, chuck them out of the pub, the pub landlord says its harassment, I say its sound policing

my mate told me of another place offering beans on toast for £1.50

If it means a place that is the centre of the community can stay open then I'm all for it. I was told by a chum that there was a pub in central London giving soup away to get punters in. Now that is a **** take but whatever works I guess.

As for is a scotch egg a substantial meal!! Well have you ever had one made out of an ostrich egg? It took 3 of us to eat it!!!!!

When on holiday abroad you see people eating beans on toast you just know they are British. It is as British as bangers and mash. And I agree NEVER knock the beans on toast.

Pub up north solved the problem. He has a fish and chip shop next door, so he rings them up for customers and they deliver the 'FULL MEAL' problem solved.

Many places are letting people order Mc Ds etc to eat on the premises

One of the bars down the street from me were doing microwave burgers and other assorted ready meals, ordering pizzas and kebabs from the pizzeria across the road. Surely places like this could be caught out as they won't been food hygiene certified?

With the screaming to get wet bars open it just shows to me that this country collectively has a drinking problem.

A drinking problem can be fuelled sat at home for a lot less money. I think its the social aspect that people have stared to miss. I'm lucky that in my job I see many different people but my other half going nuts

It has allot more to do with socializing than going out and getting smashed, having a chat face to face, maybe a game of darts or pool, or maybe crib, unlike most of the sado's that now think that a social night is spending time on Tinder, face-ache or chat-back whatever its called.

Unfortunately social skills are slowly drifting away from face to face chats, able to see expressions on faces is part of our communication skills we pick up through life. We now rely on emojis, silly smiley faces or tongues sticking out or any of the umpteen other images that get stuck up in sentences 😝???

I think it madness.

We've had people nodding in agreement when a power-crazed chief constable advocated checking people's supermarket trollies

This is not police work.  No copper worth their salt joined up to enforce arbitrary laws about whether or not a punter in a pub is eating the right sort of food.

An unforceable law is a bad law and should be repealed forthwith, on principle.

As an aside, it will do nothing to stem the spread of this virus.

I don't know,  the lads I work with weren't happy being allowed 2hrs, what's the point they said, couple of hours having a meal and drink sounds great to me.

And I know first hand, I have the picture of a pub serving sausage butties as a substantial meal, then you can drink.
