Not least because every time the virus transmits it increases the risk of a more serious mutation evolving. Frankly, I really don't care if they live or die, couldn't care less in fact . While they are out infecting each other like that the R rate remains above ! and we remain under lockdown Totally innocent business owners are forced to stay closed. All of our lives remain under lockdown because of people like them driving up the R rate Edited July 3, 2021 by Vince Green

All of our lives remain under lockdown because of people like them No, it doesn’t matter at all. The whole idea of the lockdowns was to reduce the rate of transmissions from overwhelming the NHS. Has this impacted the NHS in any way at all? Like I said, if they’re young enough it won’t have much of an impact on the NHS, nor will it have enough of an impact on those whom have had the vaccine to in turn impact the NHS. We will never be out of lockdown or other restrictions if we base our progress on infection rates or R numbers, both of which should be of no significance now we have the vaccine. What is the point of us having the vaccination if it counts for nothing, but instead we allow infection rates to influence how we progress? It’s ridiculous! It may only be the Mail, but that doesn’t make the message any the less relevant. Edited July 3, 2021 by Scully

I was going to post that picture earlier but I've been busy, saying 1.7m a week could have to isolate is a serious number of people, if the Gov are going to remove restrictions then they will have to stop people isolating? 3 hours ago, Vince Green said: COVID-19: Nearly 2,000 cases linked to Scotland fans watching Euro 2020 games | UK News | Sky News and thats only the Scotland fans, do we assume a similar rate of infection among the England fans? oowee
Time to crack on and take our chances. Those without vaccine made their choice, we now need to roll the dice and live again.
Scully
10 hours ago, Vince Green said: Its not me that decides, or you. What a cop out! Can I assume you are financially secure to the extent none of this impacts on you financially? I only ask as your attitude reminds me of a friend of my OH. He is a retired cartoonist, who used to illustrate comic strips for the likes of Woman’s Realm, and for a long time illustrated a Polly Toynbee column amongst others, in whichever paper she wrote for. He is very critical of those who want to get on with their lives, and seems to think we should be in permanent lockdown, posting his illustrations of animated gremlin-like Covid viruses cheering the fact people are wanting to go on holidays etc. He even drew one of a customer seated at a restaurant table and demanding to see the waitresses proof of vaccine! This incensed my OH as she is a waitress, and knows for a fact it is more than likely that the customer would infect her. He sits there in his ivory tower totally unaffected by this, totally oblivious ( or indifferent ) to the fact that people need to work and to get on with their lives. I’m not sure if he is just arrogant or ignorant.

Mice!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57712737 I heard this on the news earlier, apparently Scotland now has the highest rates in Europe, that doesn't seem possible . The article says its down to a lack of natural immunity?? This can't all be because of the Scottish fans who travelled to London? Let's hope Boris bans the Scottish from travelling to England just the same as NS said about people from the Northwest travelling to Scotland. Scully
The NW line trains always carried big numbers of Scots each Friday, going home for the weekend. I don’t know if that’s still the case, or whether it’s significant. 🤷♂️ Cases in Cumbria and the NE have increased dramatically according to our regional news, with the Eden Valley ( one of the least inhabited areas in England ) going from a low of 7 to 177 per 100,000 and Newcastle is now over 800. Many of those are school children apparently, recorded via an increase in testing. Increased testing means increased numbers.

Mungler
So my eldest got Covid for the second time a few weeks ago - he didn’t even know - a mate of his flagged with random testing, he got tested and thought he had a hangover (he’s a student at Uni in Southampton). There’s two cases without consequence right there. This remains a disease that affects the old and medically vulnerable and I’m afraid they are in the minority. Anyone well and under 50 and with a vaccine under their belt has more to worry about - mental and financial distress top of the list. I just look at hospitalisation and mortality rates, which have remained very low. Indeed, we’ve since been told that of the deaths the majority are old and or unvaccinated. That’s all we need to know right? Oh and the indian variant landed back in April and yet hospitalisation and death rates in but double digits. The young having lost their best years to a disease which doesn’t concern them and a lock down which has taken their education and their best years were told they were selfish for spreading the virus. The boot is now on the other foot following vaccination roll out and it is the old and at risk who are being selfish for demanding any continuation of this nonsense - indeed, if anyone wants to take a personal decision to keep wearing a mask, not go out or nail their front door shut - fill your boots, just don’t expect me to follow suit. . I still don't buy the whole the young have lost their best years, it hasn't been a constant lockdown, it's been on and off, and that's likely why its gone on so long. But now those who needed the vaccine have been offered it, others have likely had it or again been offered it, and the vaccine is the reason that the numbers of deaths are so low thankfully. The things that bug me are being told that from August we can do.... from July the something we can do.. or don't have to do... Don't keep saying what's coming, just do it and get on with it, where is the difference between tomorrow and in two weeks time? 1 hour ago, henry d said: And if BJ and all the other professionals had said no to masks, lockdowns, distancing and the bodies piled up we'd all be wanting their heads on a pole, damned if you do... and hindsight. That's it right there, there weren't as many deaths as predicted, the NHS learned to deal with covid, the vaccine has reduced the effects of covid so that means the measures imposed are too strict?
