I had covid just over a year ago, ended up in hospital for 3 days, i have had both jabs plus a booster 2 weeks ago and yesterday i tested positive on a lateral flow test, i am booked in today for a PCR, just feels like i have a bad cold really, nothing like when I had it the first time. Last Wednesday i started with a sore throat  so carried on as normal, doing laterals every night just to be safe, by Friday the sore throat had gone and i just had a runny nose and cold. reading up on the Omicron symptoms they match exactly what i had so it looks like its that i have.

Just got back from the PCR test, seemed quite busy when I was there! I think if I hadn't of done lateral flow tests i would have just thought it was a cold and gone work on Monday, maybe that's why its spreading so fast.

Really quiet at our spot, the wife then me got it, then my lad, daughter didn't test positive till nearly two weeks after the wife's symptoms,  but neither of the kids have any symptoms at all, we only tested them because we had it, so every chance its rife in junior schools, high schools are getting kids to test.

what would you all be like if you havnt had any of your jabs ..?

That's why we had the jab surely.

But thinking about it the best cure they could of had is not getting paid for time off work, wasters.

I don't doubt that plenty will have milked it, the change to the isolation rules definitely helped us not having to be off every few weeks

I hope that the jabs work , and it doesn't get too bad for you this time around Paul 👍.

I'm dreading getting it again, I still don't feel right from the first time.

Unlucky, hope your not too bad, a couple at work must be the unluckiest couple on the planet, isolated 5 times since the start and had it 3 times.

Most of the guys at my work were real troopers through it all , but , the few that did abuse the system , abused it enough for everyone .

My youngest said that he had a headache Wednesday evening and again on Thursday.

I, like others, just feel like I have a cold.

School rang on Thursday afternoon to ask if we could collect the youngest ( eldest is same primary school) and that evening carried out lateral flow on all of us.
Three out of four were positive so off to PCR on the Friday.

Returned all positive and Wifes one was positive yesterday.

So, Xmas isolation for us and at least it gets me out of having to see the In laws.

Lost my tasted and smell on Saturday but it’s started to return this morning which I take is a good sign.

Flyimg for a living and travelling on the tube etc too, I’m surprised we got away with it for so long!!!! Stupidly I only had my booster the week before.

Lateral flow tests are far from accurate. I use them in work and many of my staff have 'tested positive' only to get a negative result after taking a PCR test.

You are very lucky. My wife lost her taste and smell 12 months ago this week and they still haven't returned.

you lucky bar-steward!!!

I am trying to get my hands on a LFT that's positive to pretend to do on Christmas Eve - and then have a negative PCR done afterwards to get us out of having the vultures (the wifes family) round on Christmas and Boxing Day!!

It’s rumoured that in some schools that the kids were using blackcurrant or some other fizzy drink to produce a ‘false positive’

But in the end, it’s just delaying the inevitable as will be forced to see her sometime in the future

My misses lost her taste when she got with me  and covid wasn't even heard of then.

I believe fresh orange juice is the one.

We haven't found that, the only time the LFT said positive we were.

We thought the same with my Mrs working throughout in a school,  she was positive Tuesday and had her booster booked for the Wednesday!

Fake it, say you feel unwell and don't want to risk passing it on, especially as you were with someone that tested positive 😘😘 give them just enough notice to go buy a turkey,  say the 23rd

I thought I had covid last week as I couldn't taste anything whatsoever when eating tea. Conclusion was my missus isn't much of a cook because I could taste the HP sauce.

I sense a covid related black eye heading your way 😂.

Most straight thinking employers require evidence of a PCR test before accepting it as sick leave.

They will for ten days, but you can say you feel ill or have been in contact with someone who tested positive,  then your off for a few days while the PCR comes back.

The Lateral Flow test can be tampered with to show a positive so not worth jack. But they do now require a PCR test as well, and have done for a while now. But now you can add on long covid, no need to see a GP, they will just give you  a sick note for another 2 weeks.

@Fisheruk we know this and do enforce this policy. But staff still require to isolate if they have symptoms.
