Workshop/Shed construction pics.

Was asked to post some pics of a workshop/shed I constructed (this was for a client, instead of a purpose made "off-the-shelf" one). Total cost of materials and my (cheap) labour was circa £3200 (10 years ago) compared to a commercially available (flimsy) one for £1900 + base + delivery + erection + kitting it out etc etc.

Base was dug out for a reinforced concrete base with deepened perimeter. Brick plinth built on this with a DPM and a DPC with more concrete over this to create the internal floor.

A treated timber frame was built onto this, using 100x50 to the long sides and 75x50 to the ends.

Completely wrapped with breathable felt, and 12 ply to all internal walls for rigidity and infinite fixing points.

Clad with 175 mm feather edge, roofed with a further layer of 12mm ply and completed with Onduline corrugated roof sheets.

Two quality gates from Wickes (with ply to the internal faces) as doors, and two salvaged window frames from the house during an upgrade to new ones.

Internal fit out was low level cupboards and 2nd hand kitchen worktops. One end as a workshop/store, the other end as a tack room. Most of this was made using leftover materials from the main build.

Nice job. I think the rule of thumb here is to decide what size you want. Double it, then during the foundation stage double it again.  It still won't be big enough BUT it will take longer to,realise

EXCACTLY THAT ...NAIL ON THE HEAD BEEN THERE SEEN IT DONT IT...

SHE was well chuffed 😀 except for the price !!! Difference between this one and the "manufactured" ones is that this one will outlast her (my GF) and myself 🤣

Smart, wish I had the skill 👍

Cheers, but at the time I'd been in the building game for 30 years, so find this sort of thing very easy 😀

Cheers Chris, the other half thinks so too, but it's now full of odds and sodds etc with hardly any floor space available 🤪🤣

Keeping well and very busy cheers, you also ?

That's certainly made me giggle.

Great looking shed, materials alone have probably doubled in price now.

Please,,,, DON'T call it a shed, it's her workshop don't you know 😀🤣 And yes, I'd shudder to think how much it would cost now, but the same can be said about a flat-pack shed/workshop.

My own shed is completely different 😃
