Penelope
I here that this government are suggesting that there will be a 12% (more if you include the additional VAT) fuel duty tax rise in March!!
mellors
Yes read it last week somewhere. That'll put it £2.15 a litre or more.

Bigbob
I can remember years ago the government of the day saying diesel would be 10pence a litre cheaper than petrol to encourage folk to swap over
rbrowning2
They also said north sea gas would be virtually free to the consumer.

Those of us who were around in the 1950s will remember that nuclear energy was going to be too cheap to meter.
RyanMc
I was at one of Europe's largest trade shows recently, heavy investments in electric drive by all major manufacturers of heavy equipment. However, all summed up in one scene: solar array, connected to a battery box (>30Kwh) as the 'power source' - lovely little 60kva generator puffing away directly behind it.... EVs would be great for most that just need a car the get to work and back with the odd weekend trips etc. Some of the down sides are, EVs are more expensive than the equivalent ice car, towing anything with one is a bit of a non starter, no one makes a normal pickup / 4x4 and I can see them lasting as long because of the cost of replacement batteries. Ratlegs
Look on RAC fuel prices Hunt not mentioned it in autumn statement, seems like scaremongering RAC predicting a sharp fall in diesel prices
millrace
Its in small print that hunt did not mention and is actually a provision for 23% increase in fuel duty....

Brodie
According to Logistics UK website the proposed increase in fuel duty of 23% will apply to both petrol and derv. They estimate it will mean an extra 12p per litre.
Blackpowder
At the moment are we or are we not experiencing a reduction in fuel duty rate? Blackpowder
tweedledee
The population need to take to the street and tell the rotten politicians where to stick their fuel duties!!!! Until that happens we get shafted
