Unless he was driving at the police, then there was no justification for shooting him.

He was spoken to by two cops at the window, at least one clearly showing his aimed gun - might be fair to assume he had been uncooperative or evasive before driving away, as can be expected from a potential terrorist needing to be stopped. It looked to me like the car started to pull away before the shot was fired and a moving target makes it harder for accurate shot placement when suddenly being nudged as the car took off. The subject may have panicked into a strewth situation but the cop had to make a spontaneous decision based on what he's seen or suspects is occuring.

Still they should not be shooting a person for driving away who is not a threat at that time. He could have been a terrorist is not good enough, or the police could shoot anyone and say they could have been a terrorist.

.... and if the cop suspected that there might be a terrorist element to his driving off, as per Nice, then it is scarcely surprising that that the lad got shot.

And did they think there was a terrorist element ?

And did they think there was a terrorist element ?

That is the crux of the matter. We will have to wait for the Policeman's explanation.

If there were genuine grounds for suspecting that, I would have to revise my opinion. If there were not, then it is not right that someone is dead.

1000 people arrested last night....gunshop broken into and rifles stolen...........people have said macron has lost control...army on the streets....events cancelled...

Marine le-pen must be rubbing her hands together

quite honestly....its got to the stage where the people dont give a **** about the shooting of a food delivery driver....they just are doing the "french" thing of having a good riot and bitching and moaning about everything

even the words "civil war" have been mentioned............as soon as the weather changes and it pees down with rain ...it will burn out,,,

Had this been the car they stopped. Would you still be so quick to judge the officer.

/\. This.  It now has little to do with the original 'trigger' of a shooting by the authorities .......... and a whole lot to do with rioting and looting.  This is (as you say) a "French" thing - student riots in the 1960s, farmers, fishermen etc. - all rioting because they didn't get their own way - and then the looters take over and it grows out of proportion.

Folk realize that foreign police are not like or nice british unarmed police ? In banks in Malta they got machine guns and looked at you like you where a inconvenience . Then i dont get how drug smugglers moan when there caught abroad that they have been roughed up and are in some hell hole prison for 20 years and what the government to bail them out . Its a different world abroad than here thats why we are going to the dogs

The touch paper has already been lit and Its no wonder that people riot so easily these days. There are those who excuse the offenders and blame the authorities no matter the circumstances. They may not riot with them but will give their tacit approval with no more than a tut tut. Unless it's their car or property that is destroyed and then it's a different matter. The only saving grace in this country is that firearms are not so readily available to them.

On radio just now he was a rough area populated by “minority group” migrants.

They (usual suspects and tactics) have threatened to keep all journalists away from the funeral today and it seems the burning and looting will continue - another blm Marxist movement type making a deal out of someone who couldn’t obey the law (criminal already) and paid the price for his daftness.

Europe needs to come down hard on this sort of riot as it will spread and become the normal soon apart from countries with very low influx acceptance of migrants of that nature.

Might sound a bit racist but in all for multiculturalism and mixing but not for illegal migration and European floodgates allowing any sort in who hate us and won’t blend into society as we’ve saved them from terror and war ( supposedly)

Taken from sky news, does make you think.

Timeline of French suburban riots

1979: Regarded as the first French suburban riot in the Lyon suburb of Vaulx-en-Velin after a young person of North African descent was arrested.

1991: In March, a department store and cars were set alight in Sartrouville, north of Paris, after an Arab teenager was shot dead by a supermarket security guard.

In June the same year violence broke out again in nearby Mantes-la-Jolie after a 32-year-old policewoman was hit by a stolen car and killed. Police later shot dead Youssef Khaif, 23, who was driving another stolen car in the area.

1992: The police station in Lyon's Vaulx-en-Velin suburb was set on fire after 18-year-old Mohamed Bahri was shot dead by police after the car he was in drove towards a police roadblock.

1995: Riots broke out in several of Lyon's suburbs after police killed Algerian terrorist Khaled Kelkal – one of the orchestrators of the 1995 bombings in Paris and Lyon. TV footage showed police shouting "finish him" before they killed him.

1997: Rioting in Dammarie-les-Lys, southeast of Paris, after 16-year-old Abdelkadher Bouziane was shot and killed by police, who also injured his friend.

1998: Riots lasted for two days on the outskirts of Toulouse after Habib Muhammed, 17, was shot by police during a car theft.

2005: Three weeks of riots and a state of emergency in the suburbs of Paris and other cities after two teenagers were electrocuted as they tried to evade police.

2007: The death of two teenagers, 16 and 17, whose motorbike crashed with a police car sparked two days of rioting in Val-d’Oise, to the north of Paris.

2009: Riots took place on 9 July and again on 4 July (Bastille Day) in the eastern Parisian suburb of Montreuil after the death of Mohamed Benmouna, a young Algerian man, in police custody.

2013: Trappes near Paris experienced rioting after a Muslim man was arrested for assaulting a police officer who had tried to lift his wife's veil following the ban on face coverings in 2010.

2016: The death of a black man, Adama Traore, in police custody after he was restrained triggered rioting in several French cities and a wider 'Justice for Adama' anti-racist movement.

2017: Riots lasted almost two weeks after Theo Luhaka was arrested and claimed he was racially abused and raped by police with a baton in Seine-Saint-Denis, north of Paris.
