However, we were told to come back the next day with our hairs cut. That was too much of a sacrifice for two twenty one year olds so didn’t return. We did watch a lot of the filming and I remember watching who I now know as Ian McShane (Lovejoy) as he was as short as me. Also saw Kenneth More and was taken by the bright blue eyes of Susanna York when she walked towards the camera in one scene. There were other famous actors, Michael Caine etc. it was interesting to see the ‘effects’ of a burning plane made from plywood. OB Apart from some techy details regarding the aircraft used, questionable hairstyles etc etc, I think the production stands the test of time especially in regard the use of large numbers of period aircraft flown by very experienced pilots , superb aerial photography, dynamic soundtrack, high standards of acting and above all advice from those who were there during the events of the summer of 1940. A very good friend of mine was in two of his films, albeit small parts. This is because Guy had approached my friend for advice on how gangland 'people' operated. Gordon R
Charliedog - one of the stars of Snatch - Adam Fogerty (Gorgeous George) - owns the Harry Heywood's Fishery in Huddersfield. Half decent fish and chip shop. Adam Fogerty is a former Rugby League player and boxer who beat Tyson Fury's dad, John, on Fury senior's professional debut. It was the garage door that grated with me the most! I used to work with one of the pilots who flew one of the Spanish Heinkels, and I believe was killed in one some years later. The garage door and plastic doorbell are favorite on constantly reoccurring gripes on the BoB film group on Facebook. With so many flyable Spanish / German aircraft involved it is a production that would not be possible to be made today without resorting to CGI. Pulling so many Spitfires and a few Hurricanes back into flying or taxying state played a big part in helping kick starting the aircraft restoration industry. Sadly several of the Casa / Heinkel’s have crashed over the years.
discobob
I have recently watched Monkey Man which I enjoyed very much. Quite new (cough cough) - you can see the trailer on YouTube Logan The Wolf, a short on YouTube is way better than a lot of the mainstream All time favourites Edge of Tomorrow and just about most Tom Cruise films. I actually have alloy wheels that came from the set - for my car. Amazing what you find on EBay (didn’t know until I picked them up - the guy was showing me footage he had on his phone - before it was released) Aliens 2 Terminator 2 The Green Mile The Shawshank redemption The Road films (Bob Hope) to name but a few
