Newbie to this
3 hours ago, Mungler said: Alright. This is something I still don’t get and I throw it out to the floor. So, working to the distinct possibility of England winning the euros (we were the favourites going in), the weather getting better (because it can’t get worse and so has to) and the BoE cutting interest rates by up to 1/2% by the end of summer (with a min of 1/4% now guaranteed for August), can anyone explain to me why Sunak called an election before all these highly probable if not likely ‘feel good’ events? Wouldn’t a November election have been better, also applying the stat that more Conservatives vote in bad weather than any other party. I just don’t get why he called for July. Ideas and answers on a postcard please 😀 Simply, he knew the Rwanda flights were never going to take off. Lose the election before the first scheduled flight, knowing Labour were going to scrap the scheme, and he/the cons could not be held accountable for the failing. Then add in the massive summer influx.......................
ShootingEgg
So what is the plan with all the illegal migrants. I am 100% for migration, if I'd ever want to go abroad etc for work I'd like to think I could through the legal channels. Why are we ( govt ) so happy to just let them in. Now the bailed ones will disappear into HMOs and never to be seen by authorities again I'd imagine

TIGHTCHOKE
Well, well, well, we will have to see if Labour's new Government can come good on its promises. Some interesting start; A shake-up of planning regulation, including on green belt land, as well as new housing targets. Talks to end the junior doctors’ strikes. Wes Streeting will meet the British Medical Association union on Tuesday. A recruitment advert for a new border security commander, which will go live on Monday. A reopening and expansion of the government’s teacher recruitment campaign. A pledge to Ukraine that military aid pledged by Rishi Sunak in April is “guaranteed”, alongside a commitment to boost UK defence spending to 2.5% of GDP. The promises came from the new defence secretary, John Healey, who travelled to meet Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy. We will have to see just what they can achieve. TIGHTCHOKE
Yes, I agree, totally, BUT we have to give them a chance to see if they can make it work. I suspect that if it all falls through they will not get another chance.

We have them for probably at least 5 years, so as you say, it will be 'wait and see' what happens (and how it is financed).

That's true of all systems, including capitalism. Money is only a representation of peoples labour and money can be used to add or devalue what that Labour is actually worth. Employs many staff and tells "Government" how well everything is going and how well everybody is doing. Nothing is achieved because they weren't set up to actually 'do' anything. The museum was founded by General Augustus Henry Lane Fox, who, as a condition of inheriting the Pitt Rivers estate from his cousin, took the name Pitt-Rivers. The Pitt element is also a distant relation of Pitt the Younger. Amazing what Google throws up.
