However, they were saying on the radio that it clearly comes under the same international ban as landmines because they are indiscriminate. Israel must have known this but did it anyway. They don't seem to care what the rest of the world thinks.

Why should they care? It’s not like they get a fair crack of the media.

Ever wonder how in all the reporting of Israeli bombs killing civilians, we never get a single picture of a dead Hamas fighter? All that military activity and we are fed the line it’s just civilians. One of the problems is Hamas controls all media reporting and the rest of the world only gets to see what Hamas approves and which is lapped up by the BBC.

Then there’s the daily rocket attacks from both Hamas and now Hezbollah.

And we have a high level Iranian diplomat with a Hezbollah pager and so we all get to see in real time who is pulling what strings.

Kind words and negotiations won’t work - these nutty regimes don’t give two hoots about their people.

The Israelis cop flack for their guided rockets and missiles. These booby trapped electronics are even less indiscriminate despite what the hand wringers at the BBC will automatically claim.

Here’s a bet - through official channels and the BBC we won’t get any clear footage of Hezbollah men getting rinsed. Any moment now though will come the torrent of children injured playing with daddy’s pager and us being told that daddy drove an ambulance or had a full time job helping old ladies cross the road.

I'm no hezbollah sympathiser. I do think it dangerous, although sometimes in very limited circumstances necessary to wage unconventional warfare, particularly when your enemy is doing the same.

I think it's important any action is proportional and I certainly couldn't rejoice the loss of human life, even an evil fanatics. In my eyes every life lost is a wasted opportunity.

When Israel attacks kids at a music festival, rapes everybody in sight, butchers babies in front of their families, kidnaps the rest and films it all, perhaps we can declare proportionality balanced.  Air strikes on empty school buildings because Hamas are dug in underneath is no comparison, despite the BBC's reporting.

I think a few terrorists hobbling in the Gelding Cup next year is pretty meagre in comparison.

The law sets apart the civilised world from the terrorist.  If we have no rules then we are no better than the terrorist. A terrorist that hides amongst civilians, a terrorist that kills children, a terrorist that kills just because they can. We have a choice.

The terrorists get all the support, the flag waving marches and great press with the BBC. Pretty sure the Israelis would welcome the step up. Indeed, I doubt they’re listening about moral high ground with the missiles raining down and all those murdered and missing hostages.
