Mr. Merkel
There's a story running with GB News that Starmer was living in Lord Alli's penthouse with his son during the election campaign and also during the covid lockdown when urging every one to stay at home while he stayed at someone else's home. https://www.gbnews.com/politics/keir-starmer-fresh-fury-labour-donor-penthouse-coronavirus-pandemic

Flashman
Perhaps it's quicker to ask, "Who hasn't taken a bung from Alli?" Then ask, "Who hasn't taken a douceur from a union?" Not saying you'll get the truth, but it may save time...

12gauge82
Broadly speaking, It appears to me that Westminster is a steaming pile of corruption. It's doesn't seem to matter who's in power, whether it's Blair and his war crimes, Cameron and the Panama papers, Boris and his lock down parties (starting to look like small fry to be honest), Liz wasn't there long enough, Rishi and non doms and now this apparent corruption after his talk of doing politics differently. 🤢 I'd like to see Prime ministers and parties funded well at the tax payers expense, with no ability to 'donate' money, accept gifts or anything else that is clearly wide open to corruption. The savings to the public purse and reduction in corruption would be huge.

We need less MPs, who need paying more and any cabinet should comprise of 60% people have worked in the private sector for a minimum of 10 years to have credible real world experience. Currently, it’s all one big game. The ‘business Secretary’ is my pet peeve - career politician who has never done an actual days work. And how do we think that’s all going to pan out? Those in the political playground are insulated, having lots of fun at our expense and gaining the easy expenses way to increased wealth? Who experiencing that luxury will ever vote for change? In or out of power the trough is always brimming with opportunity?

We all know that no one bestows ‘gifts’ of that magnitude without expecting some benefit / favourite treatment in return, and that tips it into being corruptive. They will tell themselves and anyone naive enough to listen that it’s all fine and perfectly above board just because they realise how foolish they were (and they now look) to have cast a vote for this shower. JohnfromUK
25 minutes ago, Mungler said: Even die hard Labour supporters are struggling to get their heads around their leadership’s relationship with Lord Ali Remember Lord Alli had a good part of his early career working for Robert Maxwell. That was someone from who he might have seen how 'influence' can further your career. He is also very pally with Emily Thornberry (aka Lady Emily Nugee) - a 'model' champagne socialist who (allegedly) persuaded him into the Labour fold. Flashman
The Mogg was interesting on this last night. All Alli’s gifts were intimate and personal to the particular MP - so clothes, specs, holidays, mortgage loan. If Alli was interested in the Labour Party, he could’ve given to the local associations, etc. but personal presents to the individual smacks of something more sinister.
