Yeah but......

Brexit........

We'd be better off with Europe 😄😄

Interesting turmoil in the bond markets. Apparently those who lend governments money are getting worried at the European tax and spend models (as adopted by Reeves) which have seen country debt levels rise to frightening levels and haven’t delivered growth or any increase in tax take (being the money the governments all banked on to repay governmental excessive borrowing).

Who knew that taxing the productive to give it away in settling public sector pay rises and to spaff up a wall through the public sector wouldn’t deliver growth but will see the money frittered away.

If unfactored government borrowing costs are not brought under control (and the traditional approach is to start repaying the debt) then something will snap and that’s a crash. Europe is absolutely in the doldrums - France is about to have a downgrade of its credit rating which in itself will ramp up borrowing costs, Italy has returned to double basket case status following Covid and Germany is in recession). Europe is done for.

And our government, both the last one and this one, want to drag us back onto the sinking ship........beggars belief

Nothing to do with Brexit,  cheap immigrant labour will never get a job here, there's still a training school for the Apprentices, and the numbers have been ramped up, you're looking at 100s not a few like other companies

But they will be the exception not the norm.

Sounds like a good company, the uk needs many more like it 👍

Not forgetting Liz Truss crashing the economy

Engineered by outside forces, possibly.

The Truss and Kwatang budget was actually the right direction and promoted growth and enterprise. In years to come we will see this. However, they didn’t play the game or their cards in the right order and got stitched up.

This.

Unfortunately, our new supreme leader does.

Straight into politics after LSE The same establishment at which the late Jim Hacker studied, but he wasn't quite as bright as Hacker (who did actually make PM).

Now sole person in charge of a multi million pound new venture business.

What could possibly go right?

Neso

The National Energy System Operator is the nationalised energy system operator for the United Kingdom. Previously owned by National Grid plc, when it was known as National Grid ESO, it is a public corporation which operates both the electricity and gas distribution systems from 1 October 2024. Wikipedia

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is a publicly owned organization that is ultimately owned by the UK government:

Ownership

The UK government owns NESO by holding the shares in the company, but the government has no operational control. The government has appointed a board chair and a board representative from UK Government Investments.

Independence

NESO has its own board and independent directors, which gives it operational independence from the government, regulator, and industry interests.

Funding

NESO is funded through energy bills and operates on a not-for-profit basis.

Regulation

NESO is licensed and regulated by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem).

So, youre saying that NESO and Miliband are completely independent of each other ?

Ill just leave this here rather than start a new thread.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says 'Ed Miliband Follow 1/ Today we have received independent advice from @neso energy on our clean power mission. I wonder how much this cost us , for the 'independent' advice ?

Solar and Wind were providing 6% of our requirements today when I looked at Grid Watch, it doesn't matter how many Windmills or Solar Panels he installs at huge cost on our bills when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine they are utterly useless.  Milliband is insane and will wreck what is left of industry, he is well on the way already.  Car industry next in line.

Today here has been a fairly typical UK winter season day here.  (south Worcs/north Glos area)

No wind (at all - none) - and there has been none to mention since middle of last week.

Dull - auto car lights (mine and others had lights on) came on driving home around 15:15

Damp and no warmth in the air, so people do want and need a little heat even though it isn't (yet) seriously cold.

It's days like today that clearly demonstrate that wind and solar are a hopeless and impractical power source for the essential base load and basically a trendy expensive toy.

You may find this illuminating. 59% of renewables built last year were in China, 54% of cars sold in China this year are electric, by 2045 no fuel stations (state fuel station provider).

Not sure how that would help us when we are without Gas in 2030 and reliant on Wind and Solar even if the numbers quoted were true which I sure they are not, China is building Coal fired power stations like they are going out of fashion.

Massive vested interest to make more money then.  We need to sell  renewables at what they cost then, not linked to gas and no subsidies.   Then we will see who stays in so called " renewables"

I am a customer of Octopus and was initially very pleased.  They were good, competitive and efficient.  However they are now in to taking on LOTs of customers from other failed companies and have grown far too fast - are now hopeless.

I have now had three wasted days waiting for a (contract) engineer to install (at their request) a replacement meter.  On every occasion he has turned up and been unable to do the job.  Wrong parts, wrong type of meter, not qualified to remove my old meter .......... utterly hopeless.  I have had assurances that they will send their own staff with right kit, then a Contractor with wrong kit and unqualified is sent.

The 'Smart' electricity meter they have supplied fails to send in readings, so I have to do that as well now.  Mr Jackson should spend his time sorting out the affairs of his present business.

I ditched Octopus several years ago when their claims of good customer service proved to be blatant lies.
