New Years Resolution! Are You Aiming To Do Any ?

Having set myself a few over the years, some I have kept to, others, I dropped like a bag of stone, and some never got off the ground.

With the new year fast approaching, are any of our PW members aiming to do something new, or stopping doing something, or strongly considering taking up an old hobby or habit again, in a 'steadfast' fashion.

My main resolution is to do more shooting. Another is to eat less crisps.

Well if that is the case then you will end up as one of it's oldest members on the forum , this alone have it's perks as you will be exempt from any subscriptions and you should get free tickets to the Christmas get together , as we have got a lot of ex military men, I did hear it is going to sponsored by the Salvation  Army . MM

I got these ready this morning for next weeks teas .

before you roast your duck ...pour a kettle full of boiling water over it......it will make the skin nice and crispy later on.....

Do you need to rub anything on the skin like butter , sea salt and pepper and would you put anything in the cavity such as a peeled Orange ?   MM

THANKS for that , as the duck only cost me a cartridge I can afford to splash out on a Lemon a few herbs , I will look up a simple way of doing things and you will see the end result , it might even be my highlight of 2025 .:drinks:

In our group of friends, we used to do Secret Santa new years resolutions. You thought of a daft resolution and popped it in a hat. It gets shaken up and you pick one out of the hat. Fun times. Much more entertaining than 'I'm going to do couch to 5k' and then forgetting and having more desert instead

That sound like fun Chris! Bet there were some right ones in that hat.

To prioritise time spent with loved ones ( I already do, but events this year have made me realise just how much more I want to do this ) create much more artwork this year than last, and to shoot at every opportunity.

How quick time slips away from us Scully, it is simply frightening. I too am going to try and spend more time with family this year. I am working tomorrow and finishing at 21.00 (hopefully) then  going to my brothers house where I will see my sister and brother. The last time I could get time to meet up with them both was about three years ago. I really looking forward to it.

I hope things are as well as they can be in your household this period, as I recall from your posts that your father in law was very poorly.

i gave up eating bread 2 weeks ago............very difficult but i felt the benifits starting 24 hours later

Bread and crisps are my downfall Ditchy. Bread bloats me but I can never seem to give it up.

A childhood of being brought up on toast and jam sarnies, wired into my dna.

All power to you, it mustn't of been easy.

It does indeed, and I’m acutely aware of it as I get older. 🙂
Things are fine thank you; FIL died at the end of November, very peacefully and at home. OH has her good and bad times but the empty chair ( which we didn’t put out ) around the Christmas Day dining table was conspicuous by its absence, but it’s over now and none have to go through that particular ‘first’ again as it’s done. Thanks for the sentiment.
Your comment on bread and crisps could have been written by me! Don’t be too hard on yourself as I’m an avid devotee of both. When it comes to bacon sarnies and cheese on toast it just HAS to be white bread, which can bloat me like a puffer fish if I over indulge, but for everything else it’s good quality wholemeal, which is fabulous as toast, especially with lemon curd or strawberry jam. 😋

I want to end 2025 with the same amount of body parts as I start it with 🙃

Up until 2022 I had managed this then a leg fell off.

Hopefully a one off event but you just never know 🤞🏼

A worthy resolution, good luck

Only one, to sit under as many hedges as possible.

Me also, but lacking hedges would substitute dry stone walls
