TIGHTCHOKE Posted Tuesday at 11:46 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 11:46 You really couldn't make it up, a single complaint about a respected knife maker themed beer has lead to the removal of the beer's logo. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgx2nwxzj5o

A beer logo created in memory of a Sheffield cutlery legend has been discontinued after a member of the public complained that it encouraged violence. But.... The complaint was handled by the independent complaints panel. Rachel Childs, chair of the group, said the panel "acknowledged that the producer had simply sought to celebrate an important local craftsman". However, she highlighted rising rates of knife crime in Sheffield, where the marketing had appeared, which had generated a high level of concern. A high level of concern after 2 years and one complaint ?

TIGHTCHOKE Posted Tuesday at 12:24 Author Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:24 I wonder what I can legitimately complain about, just for the sake of it, must give it some thought.
Scully Posted Tuesday at 12:25 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:25 I don’t get this. One complaint? How can ONE complaint dictate policy? Why haven’t the brewery/pub whatever, said ‘ we don’t care’ and just carried on displaying it?

You could could complain about rape gangs , but nobody would listen. You could complain about illegal immigration, but nobody would listen. You could complain about the massive growth in drug abuse and crime , but nobody would listen. You could always try complaining about the honey monster being too hairy and masculine , kier starmer would be all over that one mate. Scully Posted Tuesday at 12:45 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:45 So therefore it logically follows, that if a neighbour or someone sees me carrying a gun and makes a complaint to this ‘body’, that body can decide my gun should be removed? Come on! This is pathetic! Some folk need to get a grip.
Yellow Bear Posted Tuesday at 12:51 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:51 It would be interesting to discover details of said complainant. no name required but all other details like race, religion, profession and gender etc.
islandgun Posted Tuesday at 12:59 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:59 Bizarrely you can watch any number of unthinkable violent crimes in full graphic detail simply by turning on your device or subscribing to netflix. Yet a harmless logo is deemed dangerous

Or a 'Karen'. I jest, but probaly not far off the mark. Edited Tuesday at 13:00 by Penelope
Pushandpull Posted Tuesday at 13:01 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 13:01 The body considering the complaint was apparently the industry's own regulatory group. Presumably the brewery are signed up to this and accept the decision.
