Hello, A small fine and a huge cost to clear up for Council Tax payers, A chap i knew bought some land off the A34 and that suffered the same fate,

Thanks TC, it's incredible, you get used to the odd mattress but 30,000 tons in a populated area, someone must have noticed

I read the story earlier, apparently locals had been reporting it for years. It became a criminal investigation in 2023.

I guess as for EVERYTHING else it just takes a long time.

If a truck carries. Upto 20 ton , that's 1500 trips  quite. Scary  and were has it all come from

Lazy people paying for a regulated service that obviously isn't.

On top of that you now have to book up when you go to the household tip and now they are shutting one day a week . where will it all end up , I know , down country lanes and dumped and in field entrances .  MM

London possibly, about 9 years ago my mrs had 3  18/20 ton loads tipped in one of her horse paddocks, which at the time had 3 shire mares in it . They cut the chain off the gate and tipped it . Thankfully they stayed in the field as they left the gate wide open. It was all builders waste init she found paperwork from a school in north London. She contacted the school and they were having work done. This same lot had been doing this around our area a lot . Long story short the EA got involved the firm apparently got done with a £250,000 fine . It would have cost my partner over £7500 to get rid of as it was all mixed waste. Luckily the NFU insurance covered most of it.

They will get a twelve month sentence suspended for two years and a fine that they won't pay and never gets followed up because the courts haven't got the resources to pursue it.

Draconian prison sentences are called for.

It would have to be Bristol. Stepson was moving and only had a smallish car so I drove up in my privately taxed (my one vehicle) Ranger only to find out that the staff were reflecting the council policy and would not allow me into the recycling centre. Fortunately, he was only moving down the road to Portishead where, unlike Bristol where they could not have been more unhelpful, the centre there could not have been any more welcoming to new residents.

Our local dump won't allow any 'commercial' vehicles not even taxis and you have to show proof of address, driving licences or similar. They actually ask for your driving licence and it has to show an address in the borough.

Which is not always easy if you are just moving in or clearing a deceased relatives house
