How much have you damaged your Ears?

I will be honest, I'm pretty poor when it comes to remembering to bring my hearing protection, and because of it, my hearing isn't all it should be at my age.

Use this link Here and tell us what level of hearing you have, if you use hearing protection or not, and how long you have been shooting.

Being in my only 20's - hearing only 17khz is a bit poor for me, but what about you?

I have been shooting clays for 30 years and won't see 50 again. I can hear 8,10,15 and 18. Rest - nothing. I have hearing tests for my work, as I wear a covert earpiece on occasions. The tester said my general hearing was okay, but my high frequency was gone. I have difficulty with telephone ring tones.

I just took the test and thought I was deaf. Then I realised I'd put on my headset when my speakers are plugged in. lol

I can hear all of them through my desktop speakers. Is this normal? My hearing on my left side is damaged from a childhood condition so Im surprised.

Unless we know what volume our own settings are playing at it seems a bit subjective. With the volume turned up further than normal I heard 8k and 10k - and got a feeling in my head at a couple of the next ones. I'm 57.

WATCH MY LIPS: I SAID I'M 57 - FIVE AND SEVEN - 57 :D

I can hear up to 17khz but nothing beyond that.

I'm 30, I've been shooting three years (ish), didn't wear hearing protection for a long time, use Peltor Sporttacs now.

I had my hearing tested last summer. I've got tinnitus. They also told me I don't have an issue hearing the "loudness" of things, such as a car approaching. But, I've 50% hearing clarity loss in my left ear, and 20% hearing clarity loss in my right ear. From memory it basically means I've trouble hearing parts of words containing certain letters.

What that means is I have a hard time deciphering the spoken word in certain situations, such as dinner at a noisy table, in any social gathering pub etc, out in a breeze. I've lost track of the amount of times I've asked people to look at me while they're speaking to me, which definately helps. So I've stopped saying it. Now, I'm training those around me in a different way, if they don't make the effort I ignore what they're saying :good:

Sorry, never heard you, deaf (not really) you know :good:

Can only hear the 8khz apart from the whistle I can hear when there's no-one else around. :good:

I have had difficulty having conversations in places like crowded pubs for ages.

Hearing protection was never mentioned when I was a lad. Never heard anyone mention it anyway :good:

I'm 60 and looking for the made to measure ear plug type but can't decide where to get them from. Recommendations anyone?

Here's an easier one to listen to - don't have to download each file

I can hear from 40Hz to 18kHz. Not too shabby, but then I am only 19 hehehe

Yes, that was an easier one to listen to.

I could hear everything up to 8khz, then nothing after that :good:

I'm 54
