As much as I liked the look of the Musto jacket I tryed on , the £400 price tag was a little keen for my liking . Searching the internet I like the look of the seeland keepers jacket , but do not know where stocks them as I would really like to try one on before buying . ( near Chelmsford if possible ) The jacket will mainly be for driven days and occasionally beating so Ideally something Light and waterproof with plenty of pockets . Lots reporting things like failed seems from nearly new. Fjallraven would be a good shout. Better made, tougher clothing and fit for purpose. Their Lappland, Timber-Buck (3-in-1) or Jacket nr68 would be worth a look. I fancy the pro hunter jacket and trousers, but the price is putting me off, would be well sick ripping the pants trying to get over barbed wire fence with my short legs. (I know, I'm a peasant and a wimp!) Anyway I've never once been cold in it and shoot all year round so it's got my recommendation. Dan. Scully Posted November 14, 2016 Report Share Posted November 14, 2016 Mate has the complete Harkila outfit ( except boots) which comprises of trousers, jacket, gaiters and hat. He looks a right plonker in it all, albeit a dry and very warm plonker. However, he is aware that pushing through heavy cover including briars, gorse and such, the goretex membrane is likely to get punctured. If you are willing to wait until the January sales, J. Beardo Posted November 15, 2016 Report Share Posted November 15, 2016 I love the Harkila Pro Hunter jacket and trousers - had them for 6 or 7 years now and they're still faultless - not cheap but worth the money. Trousers are too warm for Summer, but excellent Spring/Autumn/Winter. If you keep your eyes open, quite often they appear on here (i picked mine up for half the retail price) or in sales. Very hard wearing, they've never let me down. I can't find it at the mo, but there was a fieldsports tv show where they went to the Harkila factory. Glad it worked out for you both. It's never all bad. I have a Musto tech tweed jacket, it's excellent to shoot with. Big cartridge pockets, hand warmers, and plenty movement for mounting the gun. It is a bit light and I like to wear a fleece gilet underneath. Deals to be had in that model too. I've seen them below £300. I also have a waxed cotton barbour. The Pro Hunter jacket and trousers are very good and extremely tough and hard wearing with a fantastic guarantee. As someone else said, being goretex they are too warm for summer but great the rest of the year and keep me toasty in the snow. Unless you are very careless on barbed wire I don't think you will ever rip them. I've had them years and they are still in great condition. I've just bought their Torridon tweed and goretex coat, sports jacket, waistcoat and breeks over the last year so depending on your point of view I either look rather dapper, or a right Charlie - probably both. The coat alone has a silly RRP of £600 but I got it in sales for £250 which is still a lot but well worth it I think. Same with the other bits from sales or eBay less than half price. It's taken me many years to pluck up the courage to wear breeks but with my old hammer gun over my shoulder I am enjoying the history and tradition of it all!
