Thought I had found a bargain with a set of Avon ST5 tyres - around £35 a corner and, thinks I, Avon have always been a good tyre - what a disappointment - they have less grip than the (bold) Michelins that they replaced - sometimes the car just seems to wander off line like it's possessed.

Did they charge you for returning after he had broken one of the pins? Surely they didn't use a strong enough pin? So many cons now with pet insurance - latest one seems to be that each insurer has a list of approved vets that they will pay as they follow a particular pricing structure - if you take your pet to a vet they do not list then the insurance company then refuses to honour your claim - best bit of all is that no insurer will provide you with the list so let's say your dog is hit by a car and there's a vet just across the road - do you ring and check with your insurer or just get him treated?

Back into my gingham skirt and back on my abacus Yellow Bear and you are, of course, correct - my bad, this means asking his FEO for a CF rifle on a piece of land with a maximum range of 311 yards - apologies for my error.
-
"Quite a shot"? bumpy22 - if my calculations are correct (and it's a long time since I sat at school in my summer frock and pigtails) then that's around the 600 yard mark - 850 ish corner to corner.
-
How can you assume that the shot will not be over the length of it? If it were 10 acres in a perfect square (just to make life easier) then just about any CF will shoot from end to end without even breaking a sweat - a .17 hummer is still going to be angry over such a range - you also assume that the shot will be taken from an elevated position and into a hill or safe backstop - this is the first time , I believe, that the OP has owned a CF rifle so I would presume that his FEO is going to err on the side of caution. No doubt that your ticket is "open" bumpy22 and therefore you have far more experience - that changes the parameters considerably.

10 Acres is a bit er....petite for a centre fire to be blatting out rounds isn't it.

I don't support the BL - long story but I always attend remembrance day.

moondoggy, you're a man after my own heart.

As Mice has said - usually has a cap on it that you might have to drill out but sometimes they do come out easily.

£5 - that's dear .

No doubt the Police will get around to investigating the crime - just as soon as they have dealt with 5 men burning a cardboard box.

Yet another nail in the coffin of this countries sense of respect and decency - we can all sit here and dream about what we would like done to the perpetrators of this latest attack on a Gentleman totally unable to protect himself but, in our heart of hearts we know that , with a dwindling faith in our Police forces to do anything but prosecute speeding drivers, and a justice system that favours those with enough resources to bend the rules, the Scum responsible for this will never get what they deserve .

You are not only training them, like if they were pups, but you will need to "un train" them from a job they have been used to doing. The younger one will ,most likely, be the easier to bring around but the older one will depend on the Dogs nature - the vast majority of Springer's are very biddable but you can get the odd one that is downright obstinate. If you take your time and don't go in heavy handed (a Springer should never need any more than a gentle tug on it's ear and growl from you as punishment) then you should soon see rewards, they are superb dogs to work with if they have the right breeding line.

I am grateful for the positive comments that my post has received - I think that, over the last few years, some members (such as Ditchman) have vastly improved the quality of story telling on this forum and I am trying to reach the standards that they are setting.

My Lad - rescue Dog, we had him from about 5 months old - never known a more natural desire to retrieve in a Dog, he means the world to the whole family. -
Now there's a tale Mice! Our mobile friends were gathering, we discovered, to attend a funeral in our very Town on Weds 10th last month - as a result, every shop and public house in our Town was closed for "stock taking" on said day following a Wedding a couple of years ago when they were all ransacked. Despite the Police being called no officers attended on the day so ,this time, all our retailers shut up for half the day. On the day of the funeral the road was completely blocked to the cemetery by every possible variation of Transit van that you could dream of - while 2 of our boys in blue CYCLED around the Town centre about a mile away. To add insult to injury - last Weds 31st a squad car parked up in the Town centre and 2 officers spent the next hour or so giving sweets to the local school kids for Halloween.....................

Third time out and lucky for me today, up at silly o'clock and into the jalopy still dribbling coffee as the sun chased me down to the Woods. After a short discussion with my left Wellie I managed to persuade the rubber rascal on and stumbled into the darkness full of enthusiasm and arthritis - feeder looked about as popular as a snake in a lucky dip so I sat and pondered life's woes while the rest of the World woke up. Took about an hour for the first screech to alert me that Nutty was hot footing it my way, hell bent on giving my nuts a bashing () and he came down to the feeder like there was no tomorrow which, ironically for him, there now isn't. Back in my seat and with no1 doing his best impression of a feeding Squizzer on the hopper no2 came in a similar fashion but was not happy with no1 playing statues - something, Watson, was clearly afoot. What was needed was a nice long stare at no1 while my S410 lined up on him and duly sent him to the ground - exactly what he got. No3 was pretty boring as Squirrels go, offering little in the way of amusement or drama he simply made the mistake of running along a branch in front of me as I started to think about packing up and stopped for a second too long - suddenly putting on 16 grains cured all his concerns about having to watch "The Great Escape" yet again over Christmas so he went with a sense of relief. 3 down and the feeders in the other woods have been filled for the first time on Thursday so next weeks txt will be interesting.

Rape is a cruel mistress and tbh they may never even look at your field - depends on other local available food sources and weather to name but 2 catalysts.

Reading the Topic title I thought this was an invite to a party.

Is there not a highly recommended guy on here? Barrel Blacker I think - runs a business blacking/blueing and never read anything but the highest praise for his work.

Does this rule include accessories? cleaning kits and gun vices etc?

Best one I can see is £90 - same as my local dealer?
