The relevant Sale of goods act covers you in 2 ways in this instance-not fit for purpose, as already mentioned , but also that the goods "should last a reasonable time"- (depending on price and usage)-after 3 weeks you have a very strong case-the Dealer is trying it on. Tell him what you want and if he refuses go straight to CAB and Trading standards-don't let him get away with it.

Writes ups like this are what makes PW what it is-well done Sir, your post made my day

If you think it makes a difference then buy both-I'm still firmly in the camp that believes that a soft lead pellet cannot be manufactured to such a tight tolerance-simply keeping them in a pouch around your neck would be warm enough to expand them by .1 so .01 is a bridge too far-concentrate on the quality of the pellet IMHO and don't bother getting caught up in the micron mayhem that seems to be running amok.

Agreed to buy this gun at 9:15 this morning at full asking price (£275) and arranged to collect Monday-less than an hour later the seller contacted me to say he had sold the gun for a paltry £25 extra.......seems that not everyone on PW is a gentleman

hi everyone just looking for a few pointers and tips
bruno22rf replied to daithi's topic in Pigeon Shooting Tips
Is there more food available nearby?-if so then over Rape the pigeons will clear off on the slightest whim and feed next door unless they really want your field-at this time of the year there is usually an abundance of food so decoying big numbers is hard. Make sure of any that do come near-over choking your gun is not good-SK and 1/4 with 6 or 7's will put paid to 99% of pigeons holiday plans and any that you do kill should replace your plastic jobbies. -
IMHO-look for a used O/U Medalist-28" multi choke-will do just about anything you ask of it and, if you look after it, should barely be bothered by depreciation over a couple of years.

Just a warning to Ebay users on here-just had over £3.5k taken from my Paypal account via Ebay for 2 items that I have not purchased-the hackers must be stateside because the items were bought in dollars and are being posted to an American address. I have no idea whatsoever how this has been done and have deffo not been on any unusual/new sites (however, my 14 year old daughter was on my laptop all day yesterday)-please consider changing you passwords if you have not done so for a while.

Try Formula 1-normally price match anyone local so find a nearby garage and tell F1 that you were quoted £200 by them-I have done this many times before and have had a mini service (Air filter/Oil filter and fully synthetic oil) done on my 2.3ltr Saab for £40 many times.

Is it the Air rifle that's boxed and in mint condition?-Is the box for the scope available separately

Are we talking a Strapadiktomy here?

Good old Rip off Britain-prices for such shows are becoming ridiculous-its not as if, once you are in, there are any discounts on refreshments-if you don't bring your own then you are screwed at every turn. Went to the Thame show a couple of years ago-the brochure showed pictures of Clay shooting and the blurb clearly said that a clay shoot was on site with the opportunity to "have a go"-no such facility was on site and when I complained to the organisers they said that the brochure simply described "typical" events at a country show-my suggestion that they shove their show up their **** in future was duly noted. Only way to combat such behaviour is a massive boycott of these shows-email the organisers to tell them why you will not attend and eventually the penny should drop.

If you are shooting a sporting layout try Skeet and 1/4 chokes or even Cyl and Skeet-you will be surprised how far out these chokes will smash a clay and the increased spread should raise your average.

My RFD does it for free-at the end of the day its no skin off his nose and to say that he has to make a living is nonsensical-he isn't selling goods every second of the day so there are times when he is sitting around chatting-to do a minutes paperwork is nothing and the gesture would normally be rewarded by the customer buying ammo etc from the dealer-its a 2 way street-my last dealer charged me £25-thats why he is my "last" dealer.

Having a good day till I read your post, Gunman, I cannot begin to understand the pain your family must be going thru-my sincerest heart felt condolences to you and yours and may Emily's God be with her.

Genuine cartridges for our printer are around £30 for the colours and £18 for the black-on Ebay I can get 10 complete sets for £15 posted-never had a problem with any of them.

Simply get Lady_ Seagrave to give you a brisk rub as you leave the Ablutions wing.

Odd to use a 5.6mm in a gun with a 5.5mm barrel-I would have put money on something like AA Field or suchlike being far more accurate?

Got a picture?-unless they are a special then Ebay or a tool merchant should be able to help.

"we will miss him when he's gone"-yep like piles.

Planning 1st dog in the family, what to consider?
bruno22rf replied to wyatt's topic in Dogs and Dog Training
We have a male 1 year old Springer and the most common problem we have is him playing with the young kids down our road-soon as someone gets out a ball he is unstoppable. He will chase the ball till he drops and whoever hits it gets it back everytime-he will run up to any child then walk round them till he faces them then gives them the ball back-they all adore him and often come round to play with him in the garden-he has had no training whatsoever but will come to call and never runs off more than a few yards when we go out for a walk. He was "done" a couple of months back but our female Springer is about to have 6+ puppies so we may have left the operation a little late -
Find out the maximum towing weight for your particular car and don't exceed it- balance the caravan using bathroom scales under the nose wheel once its loaded-simply move heavy items in front of or behind the caravans axle to get the nose weight right-when you are towing turn slightly later in a bend and a little sharper-it will take you about 10 minutes to get used to it. If you have kids then caravans are great fun but if theres just the 2 of you and you are up for a laugh then you should have the holiday of a lifetime.

Firing pin catching catching cartridge lip
bruno22rf replied to walt1980's topic in Guns & Equipment
I would agree with the return spring having broken or maybe just a bit of dirt got down the hole-should be a cheap fix. -
Just finishing our second thousand-we had 2 in the first thousand that failed to fire but the second batch have been faultless. Cartridge can be harsh on your shoulder if you use a lot in a short period but they are fast and very effective-kick out quitre a bit of confetti though. We pay £168/1000 and have no plans to change to any other cartridge.

Don't think its so much snobbery-if the OP wants something nice to use, something that's well balanced and carries a certain finesse then an English gun from the early part of the last century ( when we made the finest guns in the world-and had the skills and industry to make them en mass) is certainly worth considering. If something of a more rugged construction that can be thrown around in the back of the car or treated more or less as a tool is acceptable then guns such as some Zabala's would be more suitable-there is, in my opinion, nothing wrong whatsoever with the Zabala guns-they do exactly what they are supposed to do.
