  1. That is a bit H&S overkill and if you are not planning to check the box with a stick at any time then you will be quite safe. We checked our boxes regularly at nesting time and rung the youngsters and you just scrape the edge of the box and the owl will usually vacate. We built and sited dozens of boxes (mainly for tawnies) when I was in Scotland and they take them readily. Get the siting right and always ensure there is a suitable branch next to the box entrance so youngsters can easily start to leave the box and branch, which they do at a quite early age. Alternatively affix a branch or piece of wood by the entrance if no natural branch there. Once you site the box put some sawdust or leaf debris in the base. To avoid squirrels taking the box, get some soiled sawdust from someone's ferret hutch and spread some in the box - squirrels do not use them with the scent of the ferret! Box should be at least 12 foot off the ground. If you have a local population and you get the box and site right, they will use it.
  2. has anyone got a photo of this set up please?
  3. Invest in forestry, great returns and forest capital value is increasing hugely.
  4. Pickup, just for the dog issue alone, but you can also do trips to the dump etc with all the **** in the back and then just hose it out.
  5. was this from last week's attack or a fresh one?
  6. I live in the Midlands and work in London and have been working from home since March. Saving around £1,200 pcm on travel, plus probably £250 on food and other stuff. Main benefit for me however, is that I don't have to get up at 5.15am and not get home sometimes until after 9pm every day - too old for that nonsense. My costs WFH are a bit of kit, logs for the burner and some electricity for power and light in the mancave. I do of course pay a bit more tax as less expenses going through the books.
  7. A couple of weeks of Clicker training
  8. Yes. Better to feed a dog raw venison rather than cooked as it can cause an upset system if fed cooked.
  9. A guy on a CBX used to ride between Dundee and Perth most weekends back in about 1978/79 and you heard him coming from miles away, it was incredible!
  10. But that is as a result of the EU accessing Scottish fishing grounds which resulted in the decimation of the Scottish Fleet. If Scotland get back their grounds then this figure would change significantly I'd imagine.
  11. That's my point, it shouldn't be. I despise the modern day ambulance-chasing mentality of compensation but these cases are absolutely deserving of significant compensation.
  12. My ex-neighbour had a GTR...it seemed to break regularly and repairs were expensive!
  13. The pattern emerging should certainly have raised concern that perhaps there was a systems issue that needed investigating. This ruined so many innocent people's lives and I hope they all get substantial compensation, as this is one instance where significant recompense must be given.
  14. 15/16 months, but certainly before you start them jumping.
  15. Cheers Figgy, my preference is certainly the TTS. My local garage mechanic races a TT so I'm sure he can keep me right on th tuning front lol
  16. I kinda like the idea that it just looks like a TT but has considerable more punch too. I really enjoyed my TD1 TT, was a real fun little thing and ultra reliable too. I'm not that keen on a rear wheel drive as I had an M Sport BMW in the past and it was pretty scary in non-dry conditions so this is putting me off the BMW option. The M2 does look a very good direct alternative to the TTS otherwise.
  17. Thanks. I'm 6ft 3 and had a 60 plate TT TDi until I traded it in recently against the other half's Q3, so used to the space issue but it is fine once you're in! lol Just needing something to have some fun in when not needing to use the truck. I like the M4 too but think the TTS will be cheaper to buy and run plus it is a Quattro.
  18. Anyone owned one or can comment on what they are like?
  19. nice pedigree, good luck finding suitable homes for them.
  20. I'm a member of this syndicate. Unlimited access to pigeon and corvid, pheasant and the odd partridge and wild duck when in season for not very much money at all, it is an absolute bargain to my mind for anyone relatively local.
  21. He wasn't drunk, he was "in drink" (whatever the hell that means!🤪)
  22. Our black stud dog has had a couple of bitches recently, I can let you know if they have been successful matings. Will check and see which is closest to you (all fully tested parents)
  23. I asked as when I got my L200 I had to insure it under commercial insurance, but I too don't do any commercial work in it and got it due to having hawks/dogs/etc to cart around the country. I posted a guide on here a couple of months back which showed that only the L200 and another one or two pickups fell under the weight limit to classify as a car and therefore be subject to car speed limits. I have been okay so far (4 years now) adhering to the car limits but I still will not be surprised if a ticket comes through post at some point.
  24. out of interest, is it insured under a private or commercial insurance policy?
