  1. Not exactly, the letter arrived the week my cert ran out, after three months of waiting, it is supposed to be attached to my cert to act as a temporary until the new one comes in the post.
  2. The letter also stands as a temporary cert at the bottom of the letter they said that it should be attached to my cert if I needed to buy cartridges. Just over a week to go till the letter runs out I will keep you posted.
  3. No idea as to how long yours will take but my cert ran out on 05/062019. Sent my renewal off in March, cheque cashed 06/03/2019. Had a letter from the police saying it might be another 8 weeks on 05/06/2019 and I have still heard nothing. This is with Dyfed-Powys. Good luck
  4. Oh that is sad, heartfelt prayers and condolences to family and all that knew her.

    UHD TV

Being a tight wad I use PC speakers, they just plug into the headphone socket on the TV and only cost about £25
  6. I have just seen a clip of him on face book putting his spin on this, it was basically his opinion of the disappearance of these two birds "in very suspicious" circumstances whilst saying what a murderous bunch of evil people shooters are and that grouse shooting is finished. It was purely drumming up hatred against the sport. I have no idea where these eagles have gone but I wish they had taken him with them.
  7. I have thought it might be some kind of game that they are after but where is the monetary value in it? And I doubt that they would be taking them for the table. The idea of catching song birds for sale seems a bit more plausible but why come at night to catch them? Unless they are using some old fashioned way like liming the lower branches and removing them after dark. No one has heard shots and I doubt my work mate or her neighbours would challenge them but if this carries on a call to 101 would be in order.
  8. A friend of mine asked me today why any one would be lamping trees? She said some members of the traveling community have been out 3 or 4 times over the last week, after midnight, parking their vans in a rough set a side field and lamping the tree tops. The trees were described as being about thirty or forty foot high but she didn't know what species and that these guys were spending quite a lot of time out there. I put it to her that it might appear they are lamping the trees but it might be that they are lamping the field for rabbits but she told me the grass is 3 feet high as it is never cut and that they are defiantly doing the trees as her neighbours have seen it also. I couldn't come up with an answer for this as these traveling fellows normally do things for financial gain or their idea of sport but cant think of anything they could be after. Any ideas?
  9. Incredible stupidity has cost the life of a young man, it just beggars belief. here is the BBC's report https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-48759974

3 or 4 years ago my son had the same thing only that time the man was saying he was from Microsoft, my son being fifteen, a bit naïve and having Asperger's gave in after the third or forth phone call explaining that his Dads computer was in danger of being infected by a virus and that I would be very grateful when I got home to find the he had allowed this guy to sort it. well the upshot of this was when I got home I found the command prompt at the bottom of the screen flashing saying this fella had copied all the hard drives. Nothing was missing and everything worked ok so a quick change to all the passwords was all that was needed but the same guy called the next day!!! this time my wife answered the phone, well the torrent of abuse that *** had to endure was quite something. he didn't call back.
  11. Sent my renewal form and cheque off to police last week of February as certificate was due to run out June 1st. Cheque was cashed 6th March heard nothing until this week when a letter from the chief fire arms officer came through the door explaining that they still hadn't made a decision on the renewal and I am to staple the letter to my certificate for a further 8 weeks as an extension to the expired certificate. Also the doctor was paid his £50 first week of April after I received his letter.
  12. 11 years as a contract overhead linesman then another 12 years working for a regional electricity company as a linesman before finally hanging up my climbers and becoming a technician. Working on all voltages either in the air or underground. I have always loved my job which is a good thing as I spend a lot of time doing it.
  13. We had a good frost Sunday morning. It hung around in the more sheltered spots till 10ish
  14. Loved growing up and watching him on the tele.
  15. Well done Boris for raising the matter with W.A. And once again it seems we have a local MP that listens to his constituents, as we have in the past Brecon and Radnorshire are well represented by Chris Davies
  16. As others have said threats and intimidation do our way of life no favours at all. The only way to get our voice heard is through educated, rational debate. As for not being able to get airtime on TV and other media could our shooting organisations book their own slots and maybe draw wild justice and others out to challenge? They might not want their moments of soap box glory challenged but I doubt they would want our views to be heard.
  17. 90% of the time I have an Opinel with me as others have said its just habit and very useful to have around. would never dream of taking it on a night out and very often leave it in the car when going to the shops.
  18. out of my local 4, 2 support the ban (Labour and Plaid), 1 against (UKIP) and 1 not on the list (Conservative).
  19. Hi Drayman After doing some googleing that has taken me to mainly American, Canadian and with the aid of google translate (which is hilarious) some eastern block sites. I have established that the gun is either a ZP49 or ZP47. Matone you seem to be right with the age being 1972, which is nice because it makes the gun the same age as me. as far as the choke stamps go I have not been able to translate them to a actual size but what Wymberley and JJsDad mentioned it being 3/4 and full seems to be right with what I have read online full could even be extra full. She is a bit of a plain Jane and will need a bit of TLC to get it looking better, I would like to get the wood work darker and the sling swivels have to go, but from what I have found out they were mainly hand crafted with good quality materials. I look forward to getting out and seeing how it shoots as although it has a shorter stock than my Browning it seems to mount very well. This might be something to do with the amount of cast off to the left it has it has. Thanks all and I will try to find out more. Mr gen
  20. Hi all I have just joined the ranks of the SxS club. My father in law has decided he wont be going shooting again and has passed to me his BRNO I have no idea as to the model but it is a 12 bore and looks to be a side plate. it is stamped 2 3/4 70mm. also in photo b it says it is choked 17,5 left barrel 17,8 right barrel but I have no idea what that might mean. She isn't the prettiest of guns but I am looking forward to taking it out as it seems to fit me quite well. It is stamped made in Czechoslovakia and looks very much like a Baikal if any of you guys could tell me any more about it I would be very grateful as it seems to be a gun not many have heard about, well not many people I know. Cheers Gen
  21. couldn't find the shooting times article on line but I did find this guy on youtube doing a unboxing video.
  22. The shooting times recently did a review on a new 525 Laminate, primarily a clay gun. It has a grey stock and for end that might not be to everyone's taste. it weights 8.4llb and comes with either 30 or 32" barrels. The review gave it 98 out of 100. Although it is not yet available in Britain yet, it will be retailing at just over the £2000 mark.
  23. great looking chair and I love the way you got under the chair for the photo instead of turning it upside down.
