  1. Agreed 100% - I am trying to help out 2 elderly neighbours ************ difficult or what
  2. If they are going to offer a 7 year licence or a fee reduction and ignore the GP nonsense I would go for that
  3. I honestly do not know and would probably be unlikely to 100% believe anything told to me by a politician. I would not be surprised if steel cans were shipped half way around the world for recycling though
  4. The only things I do not use my local garage for are light bulbs, batteries and wipers. Bulbs in particular used to be so easy and quick to change. It is interesting to note that despite it being a lawful requirement in many European countries to carry spare bulbs the eurocrats never did anything as useful as making sure that there was a standard for all cars where the bulbs could be changed by the driver in less than 2 mins without tools and without requiring antiseptic and bandages for aftercare.
  5. When recycling first came in many moons ago I talked with my now departed dad about washing out cans. As an engineer his take on the most fuel efficient way to do this was that presuming the cans were going to be melted down in a foundry there was no reason at all why they could not use their waste heat to heat water in order to pre-wash the cans if needed. They could then filter and re-cycle the water. This would use far less energy than us all washing cans individually. He also pointed out that they would not bother any way - everything was going to be heated up to melting temperature and we should be far more worried about the BPA lining. So I have never washed anything as I feel that it is not environmentally friendly to do so.
  6. I use more 2" cartridges than any other size - for ratting and feral control in barns they are ideal plus a 3" chambered mosberg moderated .410 pump can carry one 3" in the chamber and 2 3" cartridges in the tube - you do the maths for how many 2" cartridges it will take. I use 3" subsonics for humane dispatch
  7. Federal Premium powershok 85gr copper works fine in my .243 and will be fine for the 3 smaller species of deer. I completely agree though about moving up to 6.5 in order to get a 100gr+ non-lead bullet to stabilise and this becoming the normal minimum for the 3 larger species. What I am concerned about is .410 ammo I use a lot for ratting and for humane dispatch at the moment and it looks like I will have to learn to re-load. There does not seem to be much .410 re-loading equipment around but hopefully this will change very soon. I also do not fancy using steel shot in a barn much
  8. Your report reminded me of a very windy day in Hertfordshire flight lining. The 2 folk I was with are far better shots than I yet none of us connected at all over around 3 hours - not even a white b** feather. When you have a calm evening and you are not connecting that will be the time to question yourself, not with the current winds we are having.
  9. We really did not need another big brother ban aimed at predominately rural dwellers imposed by urban dwellers. A simple bit of education asking folks to gradually build up stocks and season/dry for longer would have sufficed.
  10. I use parcel2go and pick the best service for what I am sending to where , I send out around 30 parcels a month worldwide and so far, in 5 years, only 2 have gone astray. When things have gone wrong I have been quickly and fully compensated. They do not have a telephone number but they do have online chat which is generally very good Up to 2kg use royal mail signed for - £50 compensation is included or for lower value items if you get a proof of postage then the compensation is £20
  11. Interesting vision - my personal vision is that within 100 years drones will replace cars. It will make red extraction a bit easier, if there are any left.
  12. there are other alternatives already available https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7592485/Father-eight-invents-electric-car-battery-drivers-1-500-miles-without-charging-it.html
  13. 2.78 pence each - which would be less than some airgun pellets - just how do we get to 10 pence + ??????????????
  14. Hey - that is great news - please can you tell me where I can get 500 .22lr rounds for less than £20? (£15 for decent pellets and £5 for a tank fill)

    BREXIT

I managed to 1 min 16 secs - when he strongly intimated that some British folk at the EU are stupid to the titters of several 'professional' politicians there. Almost everything that he has touched in his political career has been a failure suggesting that he probably has a misguided view of his own IQ.
  16. Deer usually have a munch on sugar beet so I would say take the opportunity to harvest some venison.
  17. Welsh1 - I feel for you The judge could have handed down 5 years yet showed you, as the victim, very little respect in my opinion.
  18. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-51205548 Life sentence that means life needed, I know it is the maximum but the guy has had his chance before, clearly a very dangerous individual who, if let out, will probably kill someone next time
  19. I am sure most folk will agree that there are some things here that could be done differently. I know of several land owners that prefer gralloch removed due to high levels of dog walkers and it should be common sense to upset as few bambi lovers as possible when culling if it is avoidable. When approached by someone upset I would certainly take the view that it is an opportunity to try to educate rather than confront head on, I accept that not all folk can be educated as my mrs still does not get deer management but that does not stop me gradually trying. The guys could have calmly pointed out that they liked to leave the gralloch for the local owls, buzzards, red kites, badgers, foxes etc. - of course we were not there and only have one side of the story so all of this could have been tried. There does appear to be a fair bit of shall we say 'poetic licence' in what the lady is saying though as being covered in blood up to the elbows when gralloching is difficult to believe from professional/semi-professional stalkers - no stalker likes getting blood on themselves at all and does everything they can to avoid it. Lots of blood tends to happen when you are learning in the first few grallochs and I cannot believe these guys are inexperienced. As for the child statement - lots more kids see dead deer at the side of the road due to county councils not clearing them up - even after humane dispatch when they have been informed that they are there by the police.
  20. Just a quick tip - 1st class recorded only has £50 compensation, I would respectfully suggest that you use Special delivery with £1000 cover which is £9.25 if it weighs under 1kg - just in case it gets run over by a truck which is not unheard of. Great price though.
  21. The league against cruelty to cacti will have something to say about that Anyway hasn't eley already done this? https://www.eleyhawkltd.com/media-events/press-releases/eley-hawk-launches-the-first-disolvable-and-biodegradeable-wad-
