I'd be off the USA, and here's why:

1) It's big, has pretty much every type of terrain and people you might want to meet.

2) It has seasons, I couldn't move somewhere without a difference between summer and winter.

3) You can get a nice big house, some land and a couple of SUVs and still have change out of £200k (if you're not in a popular city or California)

4) You can shoot a wide variety of guns :good:

5) People are generally a whole lot more friendly than they are here.

6) When you go to a restuarant / shop you get "good service", or at least an acknowledgement that you're in the building and not ruining their day.

7) It's not crowded or over populated.

8) There's loads of stuff to do and places to see.

9) There's spring break

I could go on, but I won't................ god I hate the UK.

Me - I'd prefer to get my own country, Great Britain, back from the spineless socialist urban elite, the unelected european beurocrats and the ambulance chasing lawyers that seem to have taken control over us.

However, even if I can't have a revolution, I guess I'll just struggle on here and do my best. Britain is a beautiful country and, despite what you read in the papers, has some fantastic people living here.

New Zealand & Canada both appeal - largely because they are so underpopulated but I'm too old & too stubborn to quit on this country

Oh dear I really am turning into Victor Meldrew!

Cheers

Me and OH looked into emigrating. Canada was top of our list, I have worked there in the past.

But it is very rarely greener on the other side, dig deeper and when people get over the rose tints the truth come out that the world over most things are the same.

But maybe that is our view as we are more than happy with our life in the Uk, maybe it is where we live (nice house, a bit of land etc) good jobs, and nice life style.

Yes on my drive in today the weather was dark and damp, but think about this 37 Deg C at night in Melbourne the other day, remember it costs more to keep you cool than warm!

As for leaving the UK - classic grass is always greener syndrome. Every Country has its own problems and nowhere is perfect.

A lot of truth in that, I would like to know the statistics for failed emergrations, I bet they are quite high.

My mate upped sticks and went to Oz with his family, they did all the reseach, spent plenty of time there beforehand etc etc.

They lasted just over a year and came home.

Yes, I know a few who have come home from Oz, for various reasons. Definitely doesn't sound like it's all it's cracked up to be.

Some of the reasons were quite interesting and sensible. Some were just the usual "homesick - missed the family" stuff.

I'd go to Saaaaarfend :good:

In my line of business (banking software), I've been to many countries, and stayed long enough to garner some idea of the good and bad points of those countries (these include Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Liechenstien, Italy, USA, Mexico, Singapore, Malayasia, Portugal, Kuwait, and Saudia Arabia.

Where would I emigrate to if I did want to bail out of the UK and didn't have to work for a living .....

Borneo (Sabah)

sod the seasons I've had enough snow to see me through. Give me the warmth and a rain forest.

Not that it will ever happen but I'd go to Canada I think. It's a little bit calmer than America, reasonably free and the lifestyle looks to be good. The gun control is what I would consider just right too.

I'm sure the **** will hit the fan here eventually though and we will be in need of a serious re-think of how things are done. I think human rights has got a lot to answer for. OK you and me need to have rights as it keeps things fair, but if I go and rape or murder someone I really can't see how those rights can still stand? You should either be inside the law, complying with how we work and with your rights, or outside it in every way. If you can't be a team player why should the team look after you? Whos interests would it be in? Certainly not ours, which is clear to see!

If someone breaks into your house what's "reasonable force"? I say if there're removed from the building back to the street they were on when they should have just kept walking instead of stopping in my house then that's ok. If they're not dead what's the issue?
