mudpatten
11 foot long, 130lb, 1 3/4inch Tolley muzzle loading punt gun firing 1.5 pounds of shot at ducks. Or 10ft long, 150lb 2inch Moore and Grey punt gun firing 2 pounds of shot, but obviously not at live quarry since the bore size makes that illegal. scolopax
11 foot long, 130lb, 1 3/4inch Tolley muzzle loading punt gun firing 1.5 pounds of shot at ducks. How much would 1½ lbs of ITM set you back? (don't say about 15ft )
mudpatten
I`m in the fortunate position that I don`t actually have to buy it myself but I think it works out at about £30 a shot. I recently fired two shots that completely missed, went straight over the top of `em. The owner of the punting outfit was very, very rude to me. gsm1968
My 8 x 57 mauser with a hot load was enough for me. I had a 44 mag that would also jump about with a hot load in it. Shot loads with my 7mm TCU, but that was quite mild. I passed up the chance of a 375JDJ, and a 458 Lott after seeing what they did to the other guys! I don't suppose I'd get many off before I started pulling them but maybe one and a follow up would be good!

Vince Green
I've fired evey big game calibre you could ever imagine up to and including .600NE. The reason is because I used to work at Holland and Hollands shooting school and we used to have sight in the rifles that they had in for repair or modification. I can tell you its not the fun it sounds. Each rifle had to be sent back to the customer with a target showing a tight group in the middle. You were only given one box of ammo to do it with. Some of those rifles were pigs. The legacy it has left me with is that give me any rifle with a scope and I can have it shooting dead on in three shots no matter how far off it was to start with. njc110381
Rodder's .444 is a lovely gun. At close range I think it would deal with most things! He may be thinking of selling it soon too. Shall I tell him you want it?!
