As title really, whats the cheapest car you have paid money for and used it. :hmm:

For me it was during the eighties as a hod carrier i had to have some cheap transport to get the three of us in including tools etc,i ended up with a mk 1 escort that had 3 months ticket on it,it had no roof rack so i just tied the barrow to the roof, the ignition was broke so used to sart with screw driver (honest guv),the front passenger wing used to flap in the wind and who ever sat in the front had to keep their foot over the hole in the floor or water came in,i bought this car for £10 and sold it 3 mths later for £10

bought a mrk 1 escort 1300 gt bright orange for £100 quid in 1987 it was minted ran it for 3 years and sold it for £600 would be worth thousands now :cry1: :cry1:

I'd love one of those. My first car was a mk2 (500 quid), but yes, you could buy a mk1 for 70 quid in the mid 80s.

I bought a maxi for 50 quid..it wasnt in bad nick so I tcut it completely and replaced a lot of the parts from Haynes scrappy at Challow... a year on I sold it to my Brother for £175.00

A year later I bought it back for £100...got a company car and left it in my dads lock up for 15 years. got it out 10 years ago, changed the plugs, whipped the battery off for a new one and away she went. A little bit of welding to get it through the mot and 2 second hand tyres ( 5.00 each from the scrappy again) and I sold her only a couple of years ago to an enthusiast from Brighton for £850 :lol:

I have never driven a car that was better in the snow including a couple of well known 4 x 4 marques.....it would go go through it like a knife through butter

Does free count? My FIL was working at a large country house and the owner asked him to take away that old car in the barn, "oh, and here's the MOT" :good: It was duly driven away for nothing :D

It was an old Volvo 240 and my (then) fiance (now wife) and I used it for about a year before cashing in on one of the minimum trade in deals and getting £500 for it against something better.

Morris oxford paid 7 quid for it think it was a 1957 bought it 1977 took it off the road in 1984 and sold the bits for 350 quid after it stood in the garden for years as a non runner.

Cant beat my old mate though he bought a xk120 in 1965 a 1959 model for 300 quid stuck it in the garage until three months ago and I just sold it at auction for £27,500.00, :good:

A bit off topic, I had an old mini that finally died, terminal rust. I took it to the local scrappy and was going to take it in, they paid £25 back then.

Two oiks were stood outside, they stopped me and said they would give me £120, they wanted it for banger racing...I snatched their hands off. Whilst walking home, I checked the money, yes, it was all fake tenners

So I went to every corner shop in the area, bought 10 fags, and paid with a tenner in each one

Was given an A reg Micra by a retiring mechanic, he'd been using it to store all his scrap metal. Drove it home (wouldn't go over 30 due to all the weight) cleaned it up and ran it for a few months whilst I was between jobs then did some off road trials in it - terrible punishment but it refused to die, so I sold it to a student for £170 and got another £30 when I weighed in the old scrap.

First car was a MK1 Fiesta 1.1 paid £100 for it at auction needed a set of break disks and pads and a little tidy I made the car MINT and ended up planting it in the back of a Citroen BX and in turn HE hit another BX in front of him writing thoese two off and my fiesta needed a new bonnet rad and the front N/S wing pulled out.

CHEAPEST car I owned was a Fiat 126 cost me all of £25

Next to that was a Datsun A100 for £70

Most recent was the car I WAS driving till some tw at forced us off the road was a Fiesta LX 1.3 on a 1995 N plate cost us £280 full MOT and 6 month tax.

We only bought it because the 1995 M corsa 1.4 broke down. we bought it for £200 and on the way to Folkestone the cam belt snapped at Alfreton so we had to find a cheap car to get us to Folkestone.

It not only got us to folkestone with a knackered engine mount (I repaired it when we got home £9) it also took us to the Lakes to blackpool to edinburgh and to reading twice. Was a fab car till it got ran off the road
