wildfowler.250
Call me unadventurous but cheese works. Although I kind of 'mould' it onto the trap so it can't be pulled off easily. Pretty sure mosts foods work? Potatoe?
the crowman
I use a piece of crust stick it on then burn it to make it hard never failed foe me :)
pigeon pete
thanks for the ideas ,i got to put down 20 traps and i will try all of the baits and let you know what one works the best ,cant do it until they come back from there holiday in 2 weeks
bruno22rf
Chocolate works everytime for me-if you use the nipper type traps where the bait goes on a peg you need to cut up the choccy in squares about 5mm across then use a hot pin to melt a small hole thru the middle-this stops the stuff breaking when you push it on the pin. . mad1
I have used flake as they crumble so can't be carried away in big pieces they have got to keep returning so that increases your chances of catching them .... Failing that 32oz no5 will work :-)

Pushkin
Bourbon creams. Cut them into sections and place a bit on the spike with the biscuit downwards and the cream on top - infallable. Pushkin PS cheap packet from ASDA for 20p
Paul223
small piece of bread pinched into place and a dab of jam on top, smells sweet the mice love it
Muddy Funker
Another vote for peanut butter, never fails.
Chr15j
Piece of cheese secured by cream cheese (Philly or similar) always works

Vince Green
I have only ever used a bit of bread crust. Never even thought of using anything else.
AVB
***. Peanut butter, chocolate, bourbon biscuits, nutella. What next? Hobb Nobbs and a nice cup of tea to go with it as well. You never saw Tom setting traps for Jerry with all this stuff. He just stuck a nice chunk of cheddar on it. Suggest you do the same.
stokie
I always use chocolate buttons . 1 per trap broken and forced into the holder so they can't just run off with it
elgreco
No wonder the mice are getting fatter ;-) Tom
ETO
I was always told to bait with chocolate. The sweeter the better. My Sister tried all sorts when she had mice in her house - her cat is useless! But the thing that worked the most was Galaxy. It seems her mice had great taste

Tim Kelly
Nutella. They can't resist chocolate and the choccy spread sticks well to the trap, so they can't get a free lunch! 32 in a fortnight in my kitchen a few years ago.
