ME
As per the title, I was at school in those days, but I bet that many of the lads on here are enjoying the programme about Maggie on ITV. I bet Kdubya has stopped all thought of primates and is watching this with glee.

harrypen
if ever there was a reason for hanging ,,drawing and quartering she was the prime example.................Put the working man / woman back in the elizebethan age I wouldnt cross the road to ?? on her if she was on fire,,,,,mass unemployment and and a ready pool of cheap stand by labour to maximise profits was her goal and mantra let market forces prevail ,,,,,,,yeah right
Duffryn
The best PM we ever had. Had the balls to make difficult decisions, got the countries debt under control and the country back on track. Typical cycle - Labour get in and spend spend spend, conservatives rescue it, set the country back on track but everyone goes through pain in the process ( and most people think relatively short term ) so labour get voted back in and the cycle continues. Don't get me wrong the conservatives make lots of mistakes along the way but nothing compared to Labour !

Arthur Scargill took her on for his own personal glory, he was happy to sacrifice his own membership to further his political ambitions and he lost. Thank god he did, can you imagine what Britain would be like now if he had won? I've got family in the mining villages around Newcastle, they are still bitter and twisted about it up there. Its everybody's fault but their own, they blame everybody but themselves Edited January 6, 2013 by Vince Green
digger
Yup. Should have spent millions of tax payers money shoring up failing industries. Given in to the unions etc. Funny how the response to the Falklands was fantastic. Is Scargill still leeching?

four-wheel-drive
I was no lover of her but I was around in the 60s and I was in a union but for the life of me I could not understand how working people are so stupid as to go on strike for no reason much as it herts me to say it she was the only one with the guts to stand up to them only to hand it over to Labour and we all now what happend then. -Mongrel-
Not a huge fan or detractor, but if the modern politician had half her balls we'd not be in the mess we now are...in my opinion of course.

marktattoo
Like who ? I know families who are still split due to her finishing the mining industry, one brother will not speak to another brother, I even know that they won't even acknowledge each other in the steet Edited January 6, 2013 by marktattoo
lumpy
Like who ? There are mining communities up and down the country that have never fully recovered since the thatcher era, as well as all the country's assets she chose to sell off, we would'nt have half the housing problem we have today if it was'nt for her
Chr15j
She stole my milk and I still think she was a great pm. Bring back Maggie! The rest are spineless wimps. Boris could be refreshing though, just picked up gq with an article in this very subject.
955i
Erm the ones is Notts / Leics who kept working still got stuffed up by her & her cronies the world is a better place with her not in power But lets be honest, its also a far better place without the slimy Blair and bungling Bufoon Brown. I would say the country is in as much of a state due to their ministrations as for Thatchers, if only for different reasons
Chr15j
If it wasn't for labour we wouldn't be in the financial mire were in today! Ironic how labour supports the workshy class, most labour supporters don't know what labour is!
