WGD
Good whisky, but there's no such place as "the Orkneys". Or, for that matter "the Shetlands". It's "Orkney" and "Shetland". We don't talk about "the Jerseys", do we? Well said, that man. No point in you lot claiming to be connoisseurs if you can't even spell the name of your "favourite tipple". It's WHISKY. No "e" in it. Long live the pedants!! There speaks a man who knows his stuff, in all aspects of the post!

chrisjpainter
when I got my undergrad degree, I bought myself a bottle of 17 year old Clashnessie Bay Special reserve at Cask strength from a tiny little shop in a Drumbeg, Sutherland. Down to my last dram of it :( Caol Ila is also a cracking drop Edited March 29, 2013 by chrisjpainter
Blunderbust
If its blend then yi canna beat Low Flyer. If its malt then Bunnahabhain or Cardhu.

Gimlet
We have a winner. I would add Lagavulin too Yes and Highland Park. Forgot that one. I guess all this proves the old saying that there's no such thing as a bad whisky, but some are better than others.
Kes
Dalwhinnie is a nice drinking whisky, smooth and considerate. Lagavulin for those lonely serious sessions and the headache the following morning. Taste - wise and for the best all rounder, I agree - Ardbeg - a truly wonderful whisky. Until I find another one better - still searching.
Whitebridges
Another Ardbeg fan here. See: http://www.ardbeg.com/ardbeg/ I like Laphroaig as well. http://www.laphroaig.com/ Great fun trying different ones. Knockando from Speyside is also a top drop. njc110381
Glenrothes is my current bottle. Old time favourite to be found in most pubs is Glenfiddich. Only one I've tried that I didn't like was Talisker - never again!

Chr15j
Bruichladdich (sp) all the way, I have two different ones I bought for when the twins arrived in march. Amazing stuff which puts the cheap stuff to shame!
