Once again thank you all for your support and words of comfort, they mean so much to the both of us.

I have just got back from my second visit to Marlene today and I've polished off a plate of chicken and chips - I feel so much better for them!

The specialist says that Marlene is going to need an op to do something about a damaged valve in her heart but after seeing just how caring the staff on the Cardiac Care Ward are I have full confidence in them and their abilities!

Marlene is still having a bit of trouble breathing, they say that this is because the membrane round her heart is inflamed and will take a few days to settle down again. It is quite distressing to see her suffering the way she is but they are doing everything that they possible can to make and keep her comfortable. Having said that she is more able to sit up and laugh and joke with the staff now, which is wonderful to see.

I'm going to try to get a bit of an early night tonight as I feel totally washed out so once again thank you all so very much from both Me and from Marlene!

And good to read. :)

Good luck to you both.

Don't know you Frenchie, but best wishes and prayers for you both from down South. Good to hear your good lady is on the mend, and I hope the ongoing treatment gives the best results possible. Don't hit the whisky too hard, she will need you in full fettle for a while!!

Have you ever heard of a book by Nick Warren...Purpuse driven life.?

Its not exactley the Bible but well worth a read.

It will help you understand life and why you and your wife are in the situation your in at this time. The book is supose to take 40 days to read. Ive read it many times when ive been at low points in my life...give it a read..its on the net.

Good luck..God bless.

Good luck to you both mate and best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

Now the important bit mate YOU.like the rest of us on here you will want to do your very best for the little lady ,you know the every day jobs, laundryhoovering shopping etc as well as looking after Marlene.

Well Frenchie in order to do all this you have to first look after yourself first ,eating right, and more importantly getting plenty of rest ,easier said then done i know mate ,having loved ones in hospital can br incredibly draining mate both phyisiclly and mentally .So dont forget to take good care of yourself as well mate.

God bless you both.

im sorry for the late post pete , ive only just seen this thread , its a tough time for you both but you have 10,000 pigeonwatch friends on your side mate , ill offer advice from my own experience , look after yourself (youll be her biggest worry right now) , keep the scotch to a minimum (things are hard enough without the hangover), take help when its offered (having your partner in hospital can be hard work ), tell her how much you love her (over and over and over again).

our thoughts and prayers are with you both mate.

Marlene and I are both so touched by your very kind thoughts and well wishes. It has not been an easy time for either of us. Under my thick old skin and "bravado" I am really quite soft and weak compared to some of you. Having friends like you means so much to us at times like this. Marlen is on the slow road to recovery, she can now sit up and have a bit of a laugh and joke with the ward staff who trully are wonderful and so caring, Marlene is a real fighter! She is not completely out of the woods yet and will need a bit of an operation to repair a valve in her heart which is basically wearing out and damaged and leaking a little, but the doctors are going to let her have time to recover from the heart attack before they take that on. I will be visiting her twice again today 9As I am doing each day) and will update you accordingly.

With regards to your post (Above) and the thread you have started Tony I am so touched I can not describe it in words. I have replied on the thread and said that I would like to put it to Marlene and see what she says, but your kindness (Every one of you) is overwhelming.

To me the real thanks really ought to go to The Air Ambulance as without them we most likely would have lost Marlene as she actually had another heart attack while the normal ambulance staff was assessing her. It really was that close to me loosing marlene for ever!

Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!
