countryman
Pulled up to my gates to find someone had left me there unwanted rubbish, what they failed to see was the camera on the barn which has caught them in the act, you can just make out the company name on the side of the van. I am a member of Police Country watch and have passed on a copy of the cctv to them, it will be interesting to see what happens. Its a franchise company and it turns out there is one in my village i am half tempted to print off a picture and put it on his van. countryman
Only last week i had an email from Country watch to be on the look out for fly tipping, so i would expect them to take this up. Chris

pigeon controller
We caught a guy tipping tyres in a lane , confronted him and he said " so what" . W e suggested that he put them back in his van as I took pictures of him on my phone he put them back in his van and drove off. We waited a few minutes and followed only to find him down the road parked in one of our permissions gates just starting to unload, when he saw us he loaded up and gave us a few expletives and drove off again. My local tyre shop said that it cost him £300 to get rid of tyres and he gets a lot of man in a van offer to do it at £200 cash. All I can say is shop them all. Vince Green
I think its the council rather than the police who get involved because they have to clear it up. However, when they close the dumps to vans and charge ordinary people to dump their household rubbish is it any wonder that fly tipping is on the increase? But nothing will happen to them, if they did it in France or Germany they would get hung from the nearest tree i wonder if courting couples or the local dogging community know about the camera That's what the camera is there for silly! countryman
The camera did once catch a lady who could not wait to get to the local toilets, all can say is that the moon came up early that day. Chris
overandunder2012
i just wish the councils wouldnt make it so hard/ expensive for people to get rid of rubbish, no vans no big trailers pay loads a tonne if you bring a van to tip. honestly expect more of this kind of thing unfortunately the councils need to look at their policys before the countryside turns into a landfill
ack-ack
Plasterboard seems to be one of the most common items fly tipped. This is not helped by the fact that 99% of tips wont accept it.
overandunder2012
while the councils remain in lets rip the public of on rubbish as much as we can mode (think they wanted £130 to tip a small van ok the van was well full) there will be loads more of this, some people will sbf it, (some ******** field) fly tipping is well wrong but i see why theres an increase. Paddy Galore!
people who are renovating their houses really should get a skip. while councils may seem to most to be ripping people off with charges for certain items, these people don't understand the costs involved for the council in disposing of builders waste. Perhaps they think we should all subsidise it with higher council tax bills? on the other hand, i tried to take a small 6x4 ft shed down the dump but was told i could only leave 1 panel a week as there's a limit to how much timber they accept, we had a bonfire instead
fortune
We've just gone onto recycling bin collection. What a complete cock up. Some weeks the binmen wont take the bins or bags (Because no bins have been issued) as as a result all around the lanes and even along the main roads there are lots of bin bags of rubbish that have been dumped. No time for the council at all. Most of the recycling goes into landfill anyway so what's the point of sorting it out
snowmonster
Got to agree with previous posts the councils do cause a lot of this with there crappy policies. Surely if someone makes the effort to bag it box it whatever and travel to the nearest dumpit site the local jobsworth should allow them to dispose of it. zipmiester
I seen a really sad sight :( two scrap men was pouring massive drums of oil into my local brook but I was trying to get the reg but it was taped up and they did not give 2 ****es y oh y and the gates of my permission are always having mattresses and sofas thrown there
four-wheel-drive
I think that they should come down hard on people dumping stuff having said that councils could help by making it simpler for people to get rid of there old junk I have to drive about 10 miles to get rid off stuff and then when I get to the dump I find good people with there cars full of sorted stuff and I have to sit waiting for them to take it one bag at a time to each of the skips after twenty minutes even I begin to think why did I not just leave in in a lay-by not that I would. keg
The reason our local tip has started to charge is because so many tradesmen were trying get to get away with tipping trade waste as domestic. They have introduced a permit system. You get 12 a year for any loads in a trailer or large van. Defenders do not need a permit :-) I think that they have got it right. overandunder2012
i think the logic is if you leave it in the lay by the council clear it up, bet thats more expensive than letting the guy tip it in his van in the 1st place typical council always ends up costing more as they try to "improve things". Vince Green
Many years ago our local council made a huge thing about introducing bottle banks. They set up a place at the end of our road with three brightly coloured containers, white for clear glass, green for green glass and brown for, well you get the idea. One day I saw the lorry that comes to empty them, it emptied all three into the back of the same truck which amazed me. I mentioned it to one of the members of our club who worked for the council, he said they all just get dumped, the council never found anyone who would take them. When you think of all the cars that used to drive up and people would drop off all those bottles and jars all carefully washed and the labels taken off! It was a complete con all along
Vince Green
The reason our local tip has started to charge is because so many tradesmen were trying get to get away with tipping trade waste as domestic. Is that actually a problem though? Councils have a big bee in their bonnet about trade waste but its all just waste at the end of the day. Our local convenience store generates a lot of cardboard waste and he gets charged a fortune to have it taken away. Its the likes of me that ultimately ends up paying for it one way or another. We used to see him taking it to the dump himself, seats down in the family car, but presumably that has been stopped now. He's just a one man band not some big multinational
Dougy
I would like to know the cost of clearing up fly tipped mess (I mean an true cost not a stupid guesstimate from some council suit jobs worth who is acounting for there existance on payroll) put that figure against cost if it were tipped at a local amenity. It would surly be far better for councils, the environment and leave plod to concentrate on more important issue's.
hawkeye
One of my mate was telling me the other week he took his motor with a trailer ( well loaded in the motor as well as the trailer ) on the back to the local tip. They would not let him in with the trailer on unless he paid but could go in free with the motor, so he unhooked the trailer near the entrance went in and emptied the motor then went back to the trailer and loaded the motor up and took that in. 4 trips and all empty, so bloody stupid they were happy to let him park the trailer and transfer the rubbish into his motor and then take it in..
